OT: Going out coyote hunting tonight...

Post by bigbore442001 »

American Idol is on TV and Mary will be glued to the set. I don't mind but it isn't my cup of tea. Thus the answer to this is , go coyote hunting. I am getting dressed now and will be out the door in a few minutes with the TC Contender in hand, 16" 22 Hornet barrel and Ruger Single Six as a back up of sorts.

I'll sit in one of the many treestands that dot the landscape about five miles north of me and see what a Verminator Syco Tweety handcall and a Mojo Decoy will do.

I'll give a full account later on when I get back.

Don't you just love being able to get out at night and hunt/shoot something when you feel like it.

Have fun :P

Be careful, that's how our deputy was shot other than he wasn't in a tree stand. I suggest wearing hunter orange too.

I sure do miss livin'in the sticks!

Can't stand that Am. Idol stuff. The end of Rock and Roll as far as I can tell.

Well. I went out but didn't see anything to shoot at. The whole landscape was aglow with the moonlight over the snow. It really makes things stand out.

Better than having American Idol on the tube. Got fresh air and some exercise to boot.

I may go out again tonight in a different spot. I did make a discovery. A handgun scope is a bit tough to see through at night.

I live 20 miles beyond BFE Ohio, and have a Coyote problem. If I use my lever gun, it will be a scope 45-70 rifle.

Normally I use my M1A rifle with a 169gr Sierra BTHP and take them out.

But I want to try my hand with cast bullets and my Marlin 1895 for these 'yotes.

BigBore,
Tell me more about the Syco Tweety. I'm always on the look out for my next favorite call. Also, have you tried using a spotlight for yotes. I believe their not legal in all areas, but totally legit here in Indiana. I haven't had any success at night yet, but it's kind of cumbersome doing it solo.

[I sure do miss livin'in the sticks!]

Not many refer to the Greater Boston/Southern New England area as "the sticks"

[A handgun scope is a bit tough to see through at night.]

That's when a Red Dot w/adjustable rheostat is worth it's weight in 'yotes !
