OT: My souvenir from my wifes FT Wayne trip ...

Post by J Miller »

My wife got back yesterday afternoon from her three day visit to FT Wayne, IN. She went to the big Three Rivers Festival.
Craft Set up_web.JPG
She sets up her craft tent and sells things. She does sewn crafts, mostly pet tents and things like that.

Stayed with her sister and tried to catch up with a childhood friend who she found out just recently moved to Phoenix.

I asked her to bring me a souvenir, she said with a devious giggle that she'd found a good one ... and it was free.

What did I get ...

Could have been worse. It could have been a tumble bug, aka tumbleturd, and his dung ball.

This is one of the first times in a long time that my wife and I both had a good enough sense of humor to laugh at something.
I need to find a way to keep this 'lil bug so he don't get all ruined.

Hmmmm, you're right. So...what sort of mount should I construct for it?

I'm not sure what I would do with that. Maybe I could set it up at 100 yards and use it for a target. 8)

I use to shoot at live noisy ones with my ancient Daisy BB gun. I wanted to quiet them buggers down. Then I developed tinnitus and it don't matter any more, I hear them 24-7-365.

Joe,

That's a great shell. I've been hearing those buggers since I was a kid and have
yet to see a live one!!

Spray it with a hard shellac and mount it on the wall out of reach of the kitties!

I'm looking for some sort of smaller tapered item to use as a pedestal. Then I'll paint it gold and make a mount for it. The shellac sounds like a good idea.

The live ones only live for a day. They have long wings and big eyes and fly around making all sorts of noise. We're about due for the 7 year cycle here.

If she wants a collection of those I'll send ya a box full next cycle. Like 2ndovc I can't hear them any more, but they leave hundred's of shells on the trees in my yard.

Rob,

Thanks for the offer, but we'll get 'em here soon enough.

Hmmmm, I wonder if you could paint them bright colors, put a string through them and sell them as Christmas ornaments?

Jeremy,
That's where the wife comes in. You gotta play on her sympathies. Get her to kiss all the hurts and make them all better...

Well, when I take my trip, I'm not gonna get into any fights. I'm too old and arthritic for that. Somebody says boo, I'm just gonna cry "UNCLE" and surrender
