OT - Re-release of Avatar on Aug. 27th

Post by deerwhacker444 »

For those of you, like myself, that missed it the first time around, it's coming back at the end of August.

I waited till the DVD came out and when I watched it, I wished I'd went to see it in 3-D. So, I'm not going to miss this chance this time.

Like has been noted, it's a Science Fiction version of Dances with Wolves.

We saw it the first time around in 3D, and then bought it on BluRay when it came out. I would like to see it in an Imax, but that would be a two hour drive each way. Might just settle for a 3D show again.

Note: the re-release contains an extended sex scene. Those with children beware.

Just saw an ad for it myself. I did the same thing - missed it on the big screen, bought the DVD, and really wished I had seen it at the theater. Now we'll have a chance! :D

Saw it with my youngest daughter when it first came out. Both of us really enjoyed the movie. You know you do when you're so captivated by it that you don't realize how much time has gone by and that your butt had gone numb due to sitting for so long :). Hope any sequeal is just as good if not better than the first one.

I saw it on the BIG screen and bought the blue-ray. It was a good movie with lots of scenery and entertaining. Then I found out that the blue people are based on the Wiccan religion (worship the creation instead of the CREATOR). Now I have a problem with it. But as always you must make your own choice.

It's a movie. It's entertainment. If anything the blue folks are based on the American Indian and how they were treated by the American govt, commercial enterprises and military.

Every movie depicting aliens has had detractors saying one thing or another about them being anti-Christian or demonic. Even Yoda in Star Wars was said to be based on a demonic entity.

It's entertainment, don't take it seriously.

I'm not sure about that..several times they referenced a single God, and prayed to him/her for help.

Joe,
Yes it is entertainment. I'm old enough and stable enough in my Christianity to realize this. But my problem comes when younger folks see these kind of movies. Some are not mature enough to see many movies as only entertainment. It is becoming a thing around this area to get tattoos of vampire bites after watching the new crop of vampire movies, some even going so far as reshaping their teeth. Yes the movies are rated but how many people pay any attention to that. I fear our young people are being fed the wrong stuff, and so our future leaders take the nation down the wrong path. :(

Blaine,
There were a couple of scenes in the movie showing the "NAVI" bowing before their god, it was a tree, which they called "MOTHER TREE". The most significant scene was just before the final battle when they were all bowed, chanting, and undulating before the mother tree asking for her help.

Yes, I know in this country we have freedom to choose what religion we want and what god we worship, so be it. I will drop the discussion from here on as it may get "hot" and/or political, that is not what I want to happen.

Back to guns, bullets and shooting. :D
