Unusual to see such an attractive women from back then.
I am sure there were quite a few, but you would never know it from the photographs that have survived.

Quite the fashionista. The boots, funky spurs and straps, the quirt looks okay, but the handle as it attaches to her wrist is strange.

I agree. I'm not much on skinny women. Born too late I guess. Or it could be my 10% latin blood. "The Meat is for the man. The bone is for the dog!!!"

Impossible to really speculate with accuracy - women have always been women. You know how they are.

Well, as my uncle used to say, "The closer to the bone, the sweeter the meat!" They wernt all ugly back then, were they? On most of those old pictures those old gals would make you back against the wall!
Re: OT-Armed woman of the "Turn of the Century" for Old Savage!
As to the original photo... if that is a real pre 1900 picture that would either be a VERY independent women or a soiled dove. As late as the 1950's my grandmother would have considered that clothing and that pose as disgusting and somewhat immoral. No DECENT women wore pants, or mannish looking clothes and standing with your legs apart???? I don't think a lot of folks today have any idea what the moral code was for folks Pre 1900. I was lucky enough to be lectured by my GREAT grandmoother before she died and we sat and went through het photo album from the 1880/90's. Too bad the family threw the album away when she died.

Re: OT-Armed woman of the "Turn of the Century" for Old Savage!
I'm wondering if she was an actress in one of the Wild West shows ala Buffalo Bill that toured the country in that era? It appears to be a well thought out costume and fits her well, I dont think it is posed photo from a photo studio that furnishes the costumes to the customers.
Re: OT-Armed woman of the "Turn of the Century" for Old Savage!
I agree with you, she looks like the real deal, whatever she was, not a posed city slicker dressed up. A participant in a wild west show is a real possibilty, she looks the part.
Not all girls that weren't "proper" were neccesarily soiled doves. There's always been an independant sort around, and prostitution wasnt the only way to express independance. The women that rode in the wild west shows were certainly independant sorts, tho not guaranteed to be prostitutes. I for one, and glad for women of the independant frame of mind. I've met some pretty interesting women over the years, and they may not be "proper" by many folks standards, but that doesn't always mean they are not respectable in the true sense. Because many don't "approve" of anothers lifestyle or choices doesnt mean they are promiscuous or prostitues.
The woman I met that decided to ride her horse across the country back in the late 80's may not have been exactly "normal" or approved of by many for what she did, but I found her to be very interesting, and had no feeling she was less than respectable in the moral sense. I rather approve of anyone following their dream, even if it isnt what others may think is "whats best" for them. No disrespect for those that are pretty mainstream, but just saying, I feel its often those that choose to be a bit different that keep life interesting.

Wouldn't surprise me any if she weren't connected to the "101 Wild West Show and Extravaganza"! Certainly no soiled dove!
