finally something about Maj. Winters

Post by Rusty »

this morning while I was driving around 03:20 BBC world news came on with this story.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-12158637

In the interview on the radio they also spoke with Thomas Brotherington, author of "A Company of Heroes."

Chris Mathews also had a commentary on Maj. Winters on his show "Hardball" which was very moving.

Victor, I give you a lot of credit. If I watched Chris Matthews, I'd go through a lot of TV's!

Jay, I was flipping channels and paused only to listen to his closing commentary about Maj. Winters. I can't afford a new TV right now!!! However, his closing commentary was excellent.

Its about time. I have still not seen or heard anything on my local news.

I suppose if Lindsay Lohan went to rehab again we would know it. We lose a true hero such as Maj. Winters and he slips off silently.

On a side note......along the interstate the Budweiser plant has been flying its flag at half staff. Maybe its for Maj. Winters.

I heard it on the radio this morning and they said the reason it was so long after the fact was because that is what the family had requested.

I don't watch much TV but I spend 10-14 hours a day in the truck with the radio. What struck me as the strangest part of this whole thing is that I first heard it on the radio on the BBC.

I didn't look for any more links but if you look on the BBC site you might be able to listen to the piece from the broadcast.

He didn't want his death announced until after the furneral.
Would that have anything to do with that protest group that shows up at military funerals?

That or because EE is getting released today

On Topic:
I have seen and read quite a bit about Maj. Winters. A great leader, an even greater man and will be missed by many. Payers to his family and friends.

No disrespect to Maj Winters, whom I admire greatly, but flags are at half mast all over the country out of respect to the victims of the Tucson shootings.

And it was Maj Winters himself who had requested some time ago that notice not be given of his passing until after his funeral. Selfless to the end.
I don't know where we're going but there's no sense being late.

And why should we honor victims? Maybe mourn them. Flags are at half mast to punctuate the agenda. There are victims everyday. Honor heroes!
