My Yamaha 125 isn't street legal but I'll bet it would save a lot of gas. Got a shock yesterday, $3.41 for reg in Oroville.

I mostly got it to shuttle on drift boat trips, but this is much handier, and takes some of the wear and tear off the GoldWing (and the Wing is a tad unwieldly in stop and go urban driving)

That's why I got the KZ400. Small enough to scoot, but enough oomph for medium rides.BlaineG wrote:I mostly got it to shuttle on drift boat trips, but this is much handier, and takes some of the wear and tear off the GoldWing (and the Wing is a tad unwieldly in stop and go urban driving)

I know a fellow in Sydney who has a scooter with a 300 cc motor- reckons the added oomph and resultant safety compensate for a bit of an increase in fuel. He is probably right- I cannot see a 125 being able to accelerate out of trouble.

30/30 Winchester: Not accurate enough fer varmints, barely adequate for small deer; BUT In a 10" to 14" barrelled pistol; is good for moose/elk to 200 yards; ground squirrels to 300 metres

I have a mate that was put in a position where he had to sell his Harley. Now he has a 110cc 2 stroke Scooter. He has fitted a rack to it so he can carry a Rfle. A while back he rode it 1100 Kilometres to visit family and mates in a single sitting loaded down with 40 kilo's of fuel, oil, camping gear etc.
He's a big fella, 100 kilo's and it takes him very nicely around town and down dirt tracks but yes the 110 cc, 80 kmh cruising speed will get you into trouble, not out of it

I was reminded of the Honda 90cc bikes of the 1964-72 time frame.

Re: OT-But, It Has Levers On It
We see a lot of those 'round here. They replaced the 100 CC 2 smoker engine. A friend has one but I've never ridden it. My ride is a Suzuki GN125. It's a bit small but still gets me up and over the Andes faster than you can make it in a car. At the low speeds on these "highways" it will out perform most four wheel vehicles. If it had a few more ponies it'd be even better. Still, 135 km/gallon no matter how I ride is hard to beat. The tolls here are horrible but bikes don't pay toll. So a trip over the road will get me there and back for about what it'd cost to take the bus there - plus when I arrive there's local transportation rather than paying taxis or buses. Those seem to be fairly stable considering the tiny tires. The width must make up for the lack of diameter.

Blaine,
As a fellow of "ample proportions" myself (my riding buddies used to say my Sportster was too little for me) I would love to see a pic of you riding into town on that with a rifle scabbard slung across your back !

I have a bit of gravel road to traverse when I get off the MSR. On the Wing, I go slow. The scooter feels comfortable on the gravel.
