Cowboy Lever Action Smallbore Silhouette In The Snow

Post by Shasta »

It was downright cold this morning at Hat Creek Rifle & Pistol Club east of Burney, CA. Well over a foot of fresh snow on the ground, but the sun was shining for five die-hard silhouette shooters. We had a great time! :D

If my club was active, I'd shoot in those conditions. All ours does anymore is IDPA.

I need to go visit the cowboy silhouette in Winnsboro this spring.

At least it's easy to see the silhouettes against the snow... 8)

How do I find one of those matches near me? Is there a list of places that hold these matches?

Hey there Shasta -- Way to tough it out. We shoot all winter too. Gotta say I like the summer shooting better!

Hey there Rube -- Here is a link: http://www.riflesilhouette.com/information/ranges.html This may just be small bore club, which is different than Cowboy Lever Action. Contact them and see if they can provide any further information on other local clubs.

Here is a picture of our last match. The berms had melted clear of snow which helped considerably. Best regards. Wind

I lived in Susanville for a couple of years while attending school, a bunch of us made a trip up to that range to shoot a silhouette match, about 1980 or so, had a great time. Nice place.
