We haven't had a dog thread recently. Maybe looking at our hairy friends will reduce stresses. Works for me.

Aubrie is 55lbs of fun but a holy terror around any stray dog we find on the trail that looks cross eyed at us. Almost don't need the 4in Smith. Almost

The animal shelter had him listed as beagle/cavalier king charles spaniel
He's got the markings and fur of a cav and the nose and voice of a beagle, but he is a narrow dog with svelte tall lines that I don't know where came from. 30#. He's a great animal with a sweet disposition and we work with brain injury rehab patients from time to time. He does not see real well due to an eye infection before we got him, but if the rabbit or squirrel does not turn too fast, he'll catch them. On our hikes, he's flushed several animals back to me including a couple of deer. He's not gun shy. He stays in the yard without fencing and stays between us and strangers without threatening. Good boy. I can't think of a better animal that I've had and if I could clone him or fix his eyes I'd have a great hunting partner.

Grizz
Hey Grizz, great looking dog-- I had a Chico - Springer too! Sorry no pics, before the digital age, but he was a special dog. My first (that was my very own--but we're a Springer family dating back to WWII). Had him from a pup. I lost him prematurely to kidneys at 6 yrs, but what a special 6 years! In my grief - decided to "do something positive -- the right thing" in saving another (according to "instructions" on his pen, by 3 hrs!!), and though I knew you couldn't really, I "replaced" him with a pound Springer--who was guessed to be 6 yrs. Different personality, he turned out to be just as special on his own and was another winner. If anythingn the bond was closer if that's possible, and I got him to 12 -- another great six years...so it was like I got a full dog's life out of the two. Not one to really be too big (til then!) into fate-thinking, I felt that in a positive way, and it really was like it was "kismet" or whatever you might call it.
Can't beat a Springer! I "got out of the business" several years ago because of living/working/travel circumstances but am way overdue to dip my toes back in the water--and have a particular Arizona breeding in mind!

We had multiple dogs in the past, but they are all gone now, and being that the wife and I are getting older, we thought a small dog would be better for us. That was a mistake, this little guy is a bundle of energy.

Barky is his name.
