OT Colt Navy on grave stone

Whilst exploring the area where I have just moved to I found this interesting grave stone.
The Colt 1851 Navy was standard issue to British Cavalry at the time of the Crimea War.

Very interesting. They did a great job on that tombstone. I wonder if that was a "standard" design for soldiers of that war or special order. Thanks you for posting it.

Now I won't say he was "lucky" at all, but I have to admit these song lyrics came to mind when viewing that post...

It's hard for me to make out the dates, looks like "Died 1916 Age 82"? If so that would make him 18-20 during the Crimean War.

Haven't thought about that song in 15-20 years. I suppose I should break out my ELP Best of CD.

Yes the gallant Capt's luck didn't run out till he was 82 in 1916!

Colt had a plant in England where they made the 1851 London Model.
