OT-Vermont may need help fighting the gun grabbers

Post by Jason_W »

Back story: The town of Rutland, Vermont (a drug infested poop-hole) has been having trouble with criminals coming in from out of state and committing drug related gun crime. Most recently one scumbag killed another over a $40 weed deal. I say good riddance, but the Volvo driving sallies that now populate this state are crapping bricks and already crying for increased gun control. Never mind the fact that most of this sort of crime is perpetrated by out of state criminals who bring guns in with them. Somehow, the increase in gun crime is due to Vermont's "inadequate" gun control laws.

People are freaking out because gun crime is up 87% since 2000. The exact numbers are something up 97 gun crimes to 170 and most of this increase is due to guns being found during arrests for other non gun related crime.

There's no legislation pending, yet, and I'd like to keep it that way. Trouble is, I don't know if the regular Vermonters outnumber Burlington Hippie/Yuppies to keep this stuff at bay.

Build a border fence. Sorry, I couldn't help it.

I been waiting to hear this for awhile. Its sad but VT's to MA what Ct is to NY.
They came here & screwed everything up a generation ago & now the MA liberals are going up into VT & NH.

I'd love to. Ski season is making me a bit hostile. I can't drive anywhere without being tailgated by an SUV with out of state tags. Often when going over the speed limit.

But that's a side note.

I knew it was only a matter of time before the transplants went after Vermont's gun laws. We flew under the radar for a long time.

We have the sniveling little twits in Wyoming as well, getting more and more of them every day, but so far we have them pretty well outnumbered.

I used to spend allot of time in Arlington during the summers. The old covered
bridge going over the Battenkill river with a rope swing and a hole in the side
to jump out of for the kids, those green mountains are truly Gods work.

Then I believe it was in the mid '90's when I went to take my son there. They
had taken away the rope swing and sealed the hole is the side and run hurricane
fence along the inside of the bridge.

It just doesn't have the same rustic feel that it used to :(

God bless you guys over the border but if I've learned anything it's that Hippies
grow up to be controlling socialists and usually get there way, even though
they claim to be about freedom

I think what has kept me safe over here in upstate NY is that dairy land and
the smells that go with it are just too much for city folks thank goodness.

I heard of a problem they had down in Columbia county, a rich lawyer retired
and bought a house down there to relax in the country. One day he came
outside and noticed the neighbors cows pooping in the field next to his house
and didn't like the smell :D

At the next town meeting he went and demanded someone do something
about this. "Put diapers on them or something"

When ever I drive near a dairy farm I roll down the window and enjoy what
I call "fresh air" 8)

I used to hunt deer in Castleton when I was a teenager. I hunted in the view of Birdseye Mountain to the south of us. Fond memories of a different America.

It makes me ill to think that the social cancer of drugs has cast a pall over that part of the Green Mountain State.
