OT - I'm back (pictures added)

Post by Ysabel Kid »

Howdy fellas.

Been gone most of the month. Had a business trip to Europe 4/5 - 4/14. Was home less than 16 hours - just enough time to dump my suitcase, have my wife do the laundry, repack and then drove my family down to Florida (8 hours; we made excellent time). Left on a cruise over Spring Break and just got back late Saturday (drive back took over 9 hours due to traffic). Took today off on vacation to "catch up at home" before starting back at work (though I did put in a few hours today). Took some time this afternoon to hit the range, and was pleased that my Ruger Mark II, after stripping it and thoroughly cleaning it from the last disappointing shooting session, is back to running spotlessly! Saw one of the Henry "Mare's Legs" in .22 rimfire at the range (the store). They wanted $361 for it. Looks like it has the large loop of their regular "large loop" lever-action .22. I'm still thinking of one, but the Rossi in .410, which I think would be much more useful.

Anyway, if anyone needs me to reply or comment on anything, let me know. I may miss stuff in individual posts, given how far behind I am. :D

Trying!

Had I managed to get to the UK I would have made time to see you, but the trip came up on me fast, and with the cruise, I was barely able to squeeze it in. Netherlands - Belgium - Netherlands - Italy - Switzerland - Germany and back home. Whirlwind tour!!!

Yo kid,
I did not think you were gone. I "knows" you made few posts here and there. :D

Hey, while in Europe, we hope you did not hang out on those stupid little cafes drinking tea and fratenizing (or however you spell that word) with the locals getting brainwashed into giving up your guns and working for Obama's reelection.! :D

Good to see you back dude! I've been posting all over the place trying to catch up to you.

I took a bunch of pictures. Though it was a hectic trip, it was a lot of fun. I really enjoyed Milan, Italy. I spent a lot of time at the cathedral at the Duomo plaza. It has to be the most beautiful thing made by man that I've ever seen.

Image

I looked for signs of leverguns while in Italy, but no such luck. I think you must have most of them! I did see a pile of some antique projectiles outside the castle in town.

Image

I did finally see someone armed walking around, but they weren't totin' any leverguns.

Image

Later, I was in a beer hall in Zurich, and enjoyed the Swiss spirit of an armed citizenry. Here's a display they had on the wall. Again, no leverguns, but I'll let that pass.

Image

After all, how many restaurants have artillery shells at the front entrance?

Image

Especially live ones?

Image

And the food was mighty good too. I ordered something called "the Mayor's Sword", and sure enough, the beef was cooked on a sword!

Image

So, all in all, a neat trip!

Jay,

I don't see slippers in ANY of those pics.........

How are we to know if you were really the one who snapped them pics?

Actually - very out of character - I didn't bring them! I usually don't pack them on trips (though, with the condition of the floors in most hotel rooms, I should!).

I actually had to check a bag. I can usually still work out of a carry on for a 4-5 day trip. But a 10 day one forced me to pack in a larger bag. I hate checking bags...

Neat pics Kid! :D I will have to say that it is a nice diversion from guns to take a trip every now and then. Looks like you guys saw a lot and had a blast. Good for you. :D Except for Canada (1 time) I've never been out of the States

Only a gun nut would take pics of old round stones---I bet those babies are old. I see Italy is a "police state". Oh well, did you see any of my wife's relatives over there? And beings that I am half Italian, did you see any "half crazy people there"?--------------Sixgun

Ysabel Kid. Next time you visit Switzerland let me know and I show you the real spirit of the armed swiss. Near the Zurich Airport is a great outdoor shooting range and a short trip to this range would have give you some new insights. And you had not missed the leverguns that's for sure.
