Way OT - Is anyone any good with photos?

Post by L_Kilkenny »

I took this picture while up in Ely, MN recently. It's a sign on the side of a building and is approx. 12 feet x 9 feet. Don't know why but it just calls to me for some reason. I'd like to take the pic in and have it blown up with some of my other pics but.....

Anything that can be done to square it back up?

BTW, I have the original 5mb photo I can email if someone knows what can be done.

I really like the old ads for the outdoors. Do you reckon the man in front is wearing a pair of Russell moccasin boots?

Pretty darn good BR. Never thought about just cropping the edges. Still like to keep some of the green border around the sides but that's a heck of a lot better. Thanks.

it has parallax error and spherical aberration. Both should be correctable with the right software

the way you beat it in the original photograph is using the longest focal distance possible (spherical) and having the camera height in the exact center of the subject (parallax).

Send me the original file and when I get home I'll photoshop it up for you. Won't be until the weekend.

Then again, WeNoNah Canoes is still in business, so you might call or email them about getting an original.

This is about as much as I can do with it my friend. I'll shoot you the large file via email in just a minute.

Best,

Best Idea... But most Photo Editors have a "skew" function that allows parallax correction.

I actually looked for an original and Wenonah did offer a stamped 16" x 9" tin of this and other ads. Many of the others are still available but this one is not.

Oly, thanks for the work on the picture. I'll check email later and let you know how it blows up.

Thanks again,
LK

That's how I got this print of an HK ad I saw a smaller version of in Shotgun News years ago. It's only black & white, but I thought it a very striking photo.

I put it in my office, because the phrase "In a world of compromise, some don't" kind of summarizes

that interferes with proper and efficient patient care.
