What a great day!!!
I hope you all had a great day today. I was loading ammo for my 1886 in 45-70. 405 grain lead plain base onto of 2400. I"m excited to get to the range and put some lead down range. Was out on the Harley, enjoying the weather and looking over horses for purchase. Ended the day with getting a real nice 8 year old , trail ready, red roan Quarter Horse Gelding named Spritz. I will pick him up on Sunday afternoon and add him to the herd. I also picked up a new Dakota Saddle for him that was on consignment, along with a bit of tack that will needed to get him on the trails once we get to know each other. Spent some time with him today and he was very pleasing on commands, great ground manners, if a little bit skittish around some new items. I'm lookng forward to getting out on the trails with him, scouting for deer season and building the relationship with him. Pictures to be posted on Sunday. 45-70 ammo reloading for an original 1886, couple hundred miles on the Harley, new Saddle and a new Horse!! thats a pretty good day in my book!

Your loading for the 45-70 sounds like fun, but what really sounds like fun is your new horse and gearing up for that. Right up my alley.

Mike,
Congrats on your great day. Each one of us only has a numbered amount of days so its up to each of us to have the proper attitude to "make it great"
I disagree with you on the horses though. Thats all they do around here is eat, s**t, and cost you vet & horseshoe man bills. ------------Sixgun
Have you ever been up to the New Holland sales? We (my better half) have rescued a fair amount of horses from them from the dog food people over the years and they all turned out to be great pets.
Law Dawg---those are some neat pics! Any man who loves animals is a good dude in my book.

That, Sir, is a good day.
Well done.

I'm more than happy to be of any help, brother. I ought to show you some pictures of my custom ordered Shooting Star Saddlery Visalia saddle. That'll wet your whistle and get you chomping at the bit.

tell me about the rein arrangement on the bottom picture. Is that a lead line coming off the left side of the bridle? just there for pictures or normal. seems smart to me.

Sixgun. haven't been to the auctions. Two mules came from a rescue that got them there. Still have one of the mules.

Only problem is that he did not do any fishing. My father told me the good Lord does not count time against you when you are fishing. And I know for sure my Father never lied to me. So you need to get in a little FISHING!!
So SixGun you can increase those days. Tom.

Re: What a great day!!!
Mike, that rein arrangement is a Mecate or aka as McCarty. I thought Pitchy asked this in the other post on horses and answered it there (maybe it's old age). The extra length is in case you get off and you need something to lead your horse with or if you get thrown off you've got something to grab on to and hopefully don't get stranded.

Sounds like a perfect day to me...
Cant wait to see pics of your new buddy...
I have been wanting to get a horse myself for years...
Never owned one, but have taken care of many of the neighbors horses...
in exchange for riding them....even helped to deliver a couple...
The guy across the street has about 25 or so paints for sale...all green
Got my eye on a new little colt....
