Proper designation of those rifles is Lee Speed. English sporting rifles built on early Lee actions, and very elegant. I had one that I bought for $25.00 at Navy Arms' shop in Ridgefield, NJ circa '64 or '65. These rifles were coming over by the crateful from newly independent British colonies in Africa. Forgett must have cornered the market on them.

AWP, what do you find?

OK, I'll bite. What did you run across? I am a BIG fan of the Lee Speed and lookalikes. I have one really well done No4 Sporter, one not so well done No4 Bubba Sporter (Savage) and one No4 Mk1 in 90-95% original condition.

THE bolt action if you ask me. I want a .375 2-1/2" NE.

Here's some info on the rifles in general... http://www.rifleman.org.uk/Lee-Speed.htm

This was the write up on one that WAS offered but is sold...
Extremely rare B.S.A. Lee Speed No. 1 Pattern 375 x 2.5" Flanged express sporting rifle retailed by Army & Navy Cooperative Society Limited with military-type safety, serial # 128XX, Army & Navy # 642XX on bottom of trigger guard, has Army & Navy Co-op documentation. Flat top engine turned barrel rib, grip and fore-end fitted with horn caps, walnut stock, 4 shot magazine with standard 1 fixed, 2 folding leaf rear sight. Extensive floral engraving throughout action, magazine, floorplate, triggerguard and buttplate. Bore dark but with visible rifling. No dust cover. Rifle overall 80% condition or better. Extremely desirable rifle in the rare 375 x 2.5" Flanged caliber (largest caliber BSA produced in Lee Speed actions) and documented by Army & Navy Cooperative Society Limited as being sold to British officer in 1920. Please email for additional pictures. Rifle will be available for viewing at Houston Gun Collector's Association Gun Show in Reliant Hall A in Houston, TX on weekend of 1/20 & 1/21/07. **PRICE REDUCED** $1,995 FIRM.

Flanged? Is that the same as rimmed?
