An excellent read! Thanks...
Tom

---SNIP---
The Angry White Man owns firearms, and he’s willing to pick up a gun to defend his home and his country. He is willing to lay down his life to defend the freedom and safety of others, and the thought of killing someone who needs killing really doesn’t bother him.

The Angry White Man is not a metrosexual, a homosexual or a victim. Nobody like him drowned in Hurricane Katrina — he got his people together and got the hell out, then went back in to rescue those too helpless and stupid to help themselves, often as a police officer, a National Guard soldier or a volunteer firefighter.

His last name and religion don’t matter. His background might be Italian, English, Polish, German, Slavic, Irish, or Russian, and he might have Cherokee, Mexican, or Puerto Rican mixed in, but he considers himself a white American.

I have met many black men who also fit that description. They'd stand shoulder to shoulder with anyone here. I don't know, but wouldn't be surprised if some are posters here.

I agree but I also believe the color of a man's skin doesn't determine his mettle. I served with plenty of men who wouldn't meet the description in the article, but would make a stand anywhere with.

Color means nothing and there's a lot of folks of all backgrounds who will fight for this country. BTW, I am a "white guy" who speaks a little Spanish and some German but has that Cherokee blood mixed in a few generations back. My son is active duty in the Army and was seriously wounded in Iraq last week. What does that make me?...pretty g*dd#$n angry, I can tell you for sure... :x

Well, I guess I'm an "AWM", since I'm upset off about not having any decent candidate to vote for this coming election. Even the "consevative" candidate (mccain) has the gall to suggest that because I don't agree with amnesty for illegals - that I shouldn't let that keep me from voting for him?

He *must* be insane if he thinks I'm going to let that slide... :x

Comal Forge, I wish your son well and hope he makes a full recovery.

God bless him and his fellow soldiers.
Republic. I like the sound of the word. It means people can live free, go or come, buy or sell, be drunk or sober, however they choose. Some words give you a feeling. Republic is one of those words that makes me tight in the throat . . . . Some words can give you a feeling that makes your heart warm. Republic is one of those words.

Thank you for the prayers and best wishes. Our third son was stationed in Iraq for a little over a year, working in an Army combat engineering outfit. His Husky minesweeper vehicle hit a buried IED on a mission about 10 days ago - they estimated the charge at 100 lbs of TNT. Both legs and one arm were broken plus he took some shrapnel but we are blessed that his was not more seriously injured. The vehicle did its job and saved his life. The Army doctors expect him to walk again but it will be a long recovery. He is a career soldier and will return to duty if at all possible. Currently, he's in Georgia but will be moved to BAMC next week, which is about 15 minutes away from where we live. At least we'll be able to see him during convalescence.

Comal Forge, either give me a PM with an address where we can send him a get well card or post it here.

Thanks,
Leonard

Angry White Man, yeah that pretty much sums me up right there. I've always thought myself as a rebellious nonconformists and in all actuality, I have been a demographic. Who'd thunk it?

Like reading a horoscope.

There's some stuff that make me say "that's me" and other stuff that makes me say "no f'n way".

Still, the point is valid. It's time we take our country back from the government, the women, and the minorities.

We gave 'em a 30+ year run to make society perfect. White men stepped out of the picture to let all the underprivieged whiners be "equal" and now things are screwed up beyond the limits of reason.

The question is, are we angry enough to do anything about it?

:?
Government office attracts the power-mad, yet it's people who just want to be left alone to live life on their own terms who are considered dangerous.

History teaches that it's a small window in which people can fight back before it is too dangerous to fight back.

A really great and well written article. I agree with 99% of it. My only point of disagreement is that I am not angry or upset. I am concerned, but not angry. I would not want to lumped together with a bunch of upset off folks. Angry/upset off folks often do the wrong thing, or the right thing in the wrong way.

I think you could substitute "thoroughly disgusted, disillusioned and absolutely fed up" for the word Angry.

AWM just has a ring to it.

Maybe it's just me, but the thinly disguised purpose of that article (see the last few paragraphs) seemed to be a call for Democrats to nominate Obama (since so many AWM's hate Hillary, and don't really like McCain).

That was a good well written description of me a lot of the time. It's why I don't watch the news much anymore. Why I leave the room when politicians are talking on TV. I know their lying because I can see their lips moving.
But, having said that I also know that all the politicians in government that we disagree with may be morons, but they are not mushrooms. They didn't grow up over night while the lights were out.
The reason they are controlling our lives is because they can band together the angry black men and the angry white women and the angry homosexuals and the angry animal rights nuts, and the angry environmentalists and the angry anti-gun nuts.... to say nothing of the angry socialists and wannabe communists.
Thats why they are controlling out lives. And thats what makes us angry.

Politicians are just politicians. You can't blame them for being what they are anymore than you can blame a rattle snake for being a snake.

"The problem lies not in our stars, but in ourselves."

Until the rest of the people who are not in the above list are ready to stand up and vote THEIR OWN BEST INTERESTS and take the name calling and the whining and the complaining about how democracy is being abused by the majority, our liberties will continue to be eroded away by the people that make us angry.
In November, REMEMBER, There is no PERFECT Candidate, they are all going to lie to you about one thing or another. VOTE the one that will do the LEAST harm. That doesn't want to raise your taxes, that doesn't want you take your guns or your ammunition for that matter. That doesn't have a socialist health plan up there sleeve to force all Americans to particiipate. That doesn't want to take your money, your labor and your freedom!
The choices are clear. Socialism and reduced freedom or Capitalism and self reliance. Which works best for you.
It really is up to you to vote.

More than my 2 cents, but if I don't say it now. When?

We'll keep your son in our prayers.

I have to ask, are you angry just that he was wounded or???? When I was in service it was generally our attitude when something happened because we were ordered to be a place that that was just what we were there for. When I first went in I expected to be hurt maybe killed at some point. It is part of the "job".

He chose the Army and we encouraged him to follow his calling. He went willingly and looks forward to returning to active duty after rehabilitation. That doesn't take away the worry of having a loved one stationed in a war zone or the pain of one of my four sons being injured - so you might say that I'm angry he was hurt. I don't like seeing anyone in pain - much less my children.
