Number of Manufacturers

Post by COSteve »

I was cleaning up my bench a bit and stopped to look at the logos of the firearm manufacturers that I own. It got me to thinking, how many different brands of firearms do you own?

My humble collection consists of the following:

Browning
Glock
Harrington & Richardson
Henry
Hi-Standard
Marlin
National Postal Meter
RRA
Rossi
Ruger
Savage
Smith & Wesson
Springfield
Uberti
Winchester

Over the years I've owned firearms from many different manufactures and from different countries too : England, France, Belgium, Germany, Austria, Russia, Czech Republic, Italy, Spain, Japan, Brazil and of course many from the USA and a couple from Canada.

Problem with the UK is it's difficult to keep all the guns we acquire because of excessive security requirements etc. :( So I buy what I fancy but nearly always have to sell something to keep the number of firearms held to a number that the police are happy with..

currently just:
Winchester
Marlin
Iver Johnson
Cooey
Baikal

I don't own any, any more but off the top of my head during WWII you could also have arms made by Smith Corona, Union Switch & Signal, International Harvester, and a few more off the wall companies.

Lets see !

Browning

W. W. Greener
W.C.Scott
Westley Richards
Parker
A.H.Fox
Kettner
Kerner
Collath
Mannlicher Schoenauer
Harpers Ferry
William Mason (1861 contract)
Savage
Springfield 1795
Norwich (1861 contract)
Palmetto (1840 pistol)
Waters (1840 pistol)
Knight
Mauser
French (percussion sash pistols circa 1836)
Beretta
Phoenix

Trenton (1861 contract musket)
UPM
Antonio Zoli
A.B.Smith (Pennsylvania rifle circa 1840-1850)
System Grothe

Quakenbush
Thompson Center

And many others I cannot remmember the actual name for without looking at them !

Incidently some of the manufacturers above I have firearms from several arenas . For instance Savage we have a Savage 1861 Contract musket , a Savage percussion revolver from the Civil War period , Savage bolt action rifled shotguns and Svage Inline ML . Same type deal for Remington . I think for Colt only one is a cartridge revolver and the rest are period percussion revolvers and a Colt 1861 contract musket .
Anyway you get the picture .

We have three safes at the moment !

The largest one 4 grown men can stand inside , the medium one will hold two men and the smallest will hold me .

The medium one is filled with 444's a 45-70 and if it ever gets here my 336-44 .

And to be totally honest since my father went on a buying spree of late I have my eyes open for another old safe we can convert for guns .

All three of the saves we have were not made for guns but rather for toher things . The large one was made to hold clothing patterns , and the other two were office saves . The big one was made before 1910 I think and the other two more like the 40's to 60's I think .

I have about $1000 tied up in all three combined !
