Just when you think you've see it all...

Post by Rusty »

Jr. and I stopped by a local gun shop today while out running some errands.
I was going to pick up a base for my 10/22 and ventured over to the portion of the store where they mount scope and keep the hardware. There chucked up in the gun vise is a BLR that is in the middle of having a scope mounted. As I stood there looking at it I realized something was wrong. Then it hit me, the butt stock was mounted upside down. I called Jr. over to have a look. I said do you see what I see? The butt stock? He took out his smart phone and pulled up a picture of a BLR on the net and sure nuff, it was upside down.

a few years ago, at a gun show, i walked past a table with
two fellas looking at a rifle. this was a bolt gun with rings
mounted but no scope. like this,
ringsnoscope.jpg
so, as i walk by the "knowledgeable one" holds up this
rifle, looks through the scope rings, and proceeds to
explain to the "newby" how these here ghost ring sights
work. . i just shook my head and kept walking.

  Ghost rings that big are for use on dangerous game up close. Didn't you know that. I do hope the one who was the "less" knowledgeable was still able to learn. I don't know everything, and don't pretend to, but WOW!

I wonder if the guy was making a joke about the rifle with the rings and no scope.

That reminds me of when I was working in a pawn shop. Two guys walk in and start looking at the long guns. One sees a 12ga with a Cutts compensator on it and says to his homie "Hey, that one has a silencer on it!".

you should hear the talk in fly shops - some 23-y-o kid talking down to you about how modern tackle and tactics are so superior to last year.
(and even worse at BRS or Cabelas w/ sales commissions)
