Re: Whitch one
Either. Both. Matters not one whit really except in application.
I shoot lead because I cast lead, though bulk 158gr sjsp (magtech, independence, whatever) is fine too.

Re: Whitch one
What are you going to do with it? Hunt, target shoot, plink, CAS?
Kinda makes a difference. Personally I'd feed about 200 full power 158gr jacketed bullets through it to knock off the rough edges then switch to cast bullets that fit the rifle.

Re: Whitch one
Both seem to work fine in mine. I've not noticed any leading so far, although I don't shoot "hot" lead loads. Lead will be cheaper in the long run.
Joe has a good point about the right SIZE if you use lead bullets; seems like most bullet-makers have a different idea of "standard" .357 caliber dimensions than most gun-makers (same with .44 Mag and .45 Colt).
I plan to load a bunch of "plated" bullets I got a good buy on, but the plating is not a true 'jacket' so I assume leading would be no less than with regular cast bullets; we'll see...

Thanks folks for the answers . I' ve heard all kinds of of things . Never was sure. Some spell back I ordered 500 each of lead & sjsp .
Magtec brand. So far so good. I once a pona'time I reloaded . Been many moons since. A friend does for me now. He probably dosen't charge me enough , But he's a right good feller. Thanks again.

Re: Whitch one
I shoot lots of Magtech (by the case from Cabelas) & Independence (a case from a local closeout a few years ago) in mine. It likes the Independence slightly better (maybe 1/8 MOA) but both are solid shooters in my 20".
As I run out, I am slowly migrating to nothing but my own home-cast 158gr Keith HPs.

Re: Whitch one
You're alot better shot than me; I can't ever get under 1/4" MOA with my 20" leverguns...Old Ironsights wrote:It likes the Independence slightly better (maybe 1/8 MOA) but both are solid shooters in my 20".
I know you meant in comparison, but it just caught my eye the way you said it...

Re: Whitch one
if you're shooting over 1400 fps, you probably want semi-jacketed to prevent leading.
