New toy finally arrived

Post by rjohns94 »

Ruger 45/22 with tactical innovations suppressor. Ran a clip through it using aguilla heavy subsonic rounds last night in the garden. seems quieter than my .20 cal spring air rifle. I am pleased.

Cool beans, Mike ! :P :P :P

Suppressors & silencers are banned (period) by my state, Fed permit or not - so I have to use quiet ammo like Colibri Super Aquila .22 Short.

My new toy arrived yesterday, too - only it's gonna be LOUD .

Thats nice . Do your Aguila's stabilize? I have tried them in 4 different .22's and they all have bullet tipping at even at 15 yards,.

Very nice Ruger setup. Looks like something that 007 would carry.
It would be interesting to see what it would measure on a dB meter w/without can on it.

does the can affect accuracy?
careful what you wish for, you might just get it.

The can does not seem to affect accuracy. I shot it today quite a bit walking cans all over the place. I didnt shoot at targets for accuracy, was just trying out practical accuracy. This seems to be as accurate as any of the 4-5 inch rugers. I am quite impressed with it.

I have not noticed the bullets tipping. In fact I used them last year out of my Model 61 pump to great affect on the bushy tail population. I didn't notice them tipping today while plinking but I wasn't really looking for it. I will try it on paper maybe tomorrow.

Texas allows suooressors for everything but hunting game and that law may be changed very soon as it has tremendous support in Austin.

YES - BEWARE...!

My integral-barrel suppressor for my Ruger lever-action 96/22 came with instructions which specifically warned against the Aguilla SSS ammo - the bullets are heavy enough to not stabilize, and can keyhole while IN the suppressor, causing a baffle-strike.

I'd want to be sure the rifling twist and velocity you're getting out of that particular gun would allow stability sufficient to be recommended by the suppressor manufacturer.

That's really a cool piece, Mike. We can get suppressors now in Washington. Just have to go through the application process. As an LEO I can have one, but onlly as long as I'm with the department. Now, I could get one on my own.
