Daughter's first turkey
This isn't about her first boyfriend. What a great weekend . I had my son's Hunter safety Range day on Saturday while my wife took my daughter out turkey hunting, alot of gobbling but nothing would come in. It was my turn Sunday morning, had enough time to get out before Easter Sunday's schedule. Well the turkeys have been roosting on the ridge behind the house. Well we got lucky , when they started gobbling at day break, there was one roosting only 40 yards down the field line in a tree. It came out of the tree and landed in front of us , bang -dead. It was 35 yards with a 20 gauge using 5 shot and it was DRT.
22 pounds with a nine beard.
This was the third year with Izzi and I'm glad it finaly came together. I'm proud of her ,she has always approached everything she does with great vigor. Straight A student, Captian of the math team, great hockey player , great sense of humor and wit. Easy kid to raise, now my son is a different story, so I'm not getting off that easy.

That's great. She got to learn early how special it is when one does that for you. Don't feel sorry for the idiot, shoot him.
My brother's granddaughter the opposite, last year she shot one right off. Figured she would this year too, after all, that is all she knew. Didn't happen that way, turks pulled one over on her, and later in the day, got schooled again. (so did my brother and he has been doing this long time too) She was disappointed, but realized what happened last year.

You have very good reason to be very proud of your daughter.

Re: Daughter's first turkey
Memories you'll both treasure.
Nothing like a totally home-made Turkey dinner, vs. the store-bought-home-cooked kind.
Daughters who do special stuff like that with their dads (or in this case, mom ) usually grow up to be wonderful women.

Proud daughter and Poppa, ...can't get any better. Great looking tom, by the way. I'm a little jealous, but hearty congratulations to you both!
