I finally bought my first Black Rifle

Post by jdad »

After a lot of over analyzing I decided to "buy local" and support an Oregon company. I picked up a Noveske Light MOE. :D Unfortunately I had shoulder surgery 3 weeks ago and won't be able to shoot, for about 10 weeks. :|

Nice little Carbine, bout time. Too bad on the shoulder, been there twice and it aint fun. Heal well then blast away. My Brother just left, He had brought His AR down cause the Magazine wouldn't lock in. I popped one of My Mags in and it worked just fine. Have no idee what He was doing wrong.

That is a very good choice for an EBR, and (IMO) a FANTASTIC first EBR. After fiddling with - and not being thrilled by - other brands for ten years, I whittled my own choices in a "family" M4 clone down to a Colt, Daniel Defense or Noveske... got the DD because I could take delivery of the configuration I wanted in a timely manner, but I would love to be able to justify eventually getting a Noveske as well.

Prayers sent for a quick and full recovery. I have an AR clone, but I am not really a fan of them. If I ever get to the point that I can hunt varmints, I will scope it and try to hit something. They are accurate and the parts are cheap and reliable. Whether you like the AR platform or not, the accuracy and reliability of the current crop is not in any doubt. I have it just because it has very mild recoil and my son is recoil sensitive. He likes it, and the only other thing he will shoot is a .22lr.

Never owned one of those things but in the last couple years Lord knows I've fired my fair share of them .

If I ever relent and get one I'd like a Colt with the triangular forend like what was carried in Vietnam . And yes thats just for sentimental reasons .

If I ever get one to actually use it'll be a flat top with a round free floating handguard in either 6.8 SPC or 6.5 Grendel specifically for shooting trespassing deer

Congrats on your purchase and best of luck with the shoulder . I have a sneaking suspicion I'm gonna need to get my left shoulder fixed in the relatively near future . Pulling a 40 pound compound bow yesterday was not a pleasent feeling .

I have two. Hardly ever get them out except when my son comes over. They're functional and work great, they just don't do nothin for me. I've been through the shoulder surgery and rehab, if you come back like I did you'll be glad ya did it. We're mighty lucky to live in a time when we can be fixed and when we have the choices we have with things that go boom.

Noveske is considered the top tier, of precision Mil-Spec AR's. I sold some stuff, to pay for it.

Hey congrats, and I concur with the others, it doesn't get any better than a Noveske.

I got one of those there Noveske's back in June of 2009. It is probably the best shooting weapon I own. They are very addictive.
