Re: next rifle?
RIHMFIRE, your big gaposis is in the 22 and 25 cal. area. You need a 218 Bee and a 25/20. After you acquire both of those come back here and we'll refine your arsenal some more.

Better getcha an EBR, zombies down there in Florida too, ya know.
Re: next rifle?
.32-20
Re: next rifle?
Hard to say, I have all the above but I guess it will have to be an M1A cause I already have the Bayonet don't Ya know. 308 would slip right in there. 45-70 just doesn't do anything for Me. And for a really big BOOM I have a 375 H&H. But My aqusitions usually are just whatever turns up.

Re: next rifle?
I'd go 40-65 to be in keeping with the apparent theme. Slightly less recoil than the 45.70 and good balistics.
But being of the black burning persuasion, I recently bought a .62 flintlock smoothbore. I love it. Kids love it. Women are intrigued...
Enjoy!

Re: next rifle?
Definitely .32-20.
You have the pistol cartridge rifles well covered except for smaller caliber, and with the 38-55 and 30-06 you have the high power end covered. Yep, you NEED a .32-20!

22 mag, 25/20 and a 40/65 or 45/70
30/30 Winchester: Not accurate enough fer varmints, barely adequate for small deer; BUT In a 10" to 14" barrelled pistol; is good for moose/elk to 200 yards; ground squirrels to 300 metres

Re: next rifle?
one will never work, never, never. You need a 32-20 and a 45-70. You just gotta have those two. .
Re: next rifle?
Looks like u got all the bases covered. A Bigbore 94 in .356 makes a good all around Hammer for North American Game. It does what the 30-06 does out to 200yards, maybe 250, in a 6 1/4LB lightening fast handling carbine holding 7 shots
Re: next rifle?
I'll highjack the thread, cuz it ain't a rifle. It‘s a lever action, after all. Get ya one of these----
http://www.moaguns.com/moa_max.html
M.O.A. MAXIMUM HANDGUN
A unique single shot, falling block action pistol. The receiver is constructed of stainless steel and constructed in such a manner making the receiver extremely strong and safe! The mating of the precision machined receiver to a quality Douglas barrel results in a pistol that performs like a finely tuned rifle. The barrels are free floating to maintain the consistent accuracy through a wide range of fluctuating temperatures. Barrels of different lengths and calibers are changable with the use of a spanner wrench. The MAXIMUM uncompromising safety is provided by the manual transfer bar. A unique device in itself, the transfer bar button must be in the "safe" position in order to load and unload the pistol. To fire the pistol the button must be moved to it's downward position, which can be accomplished only after moving the hammer to the rear. The MAXIMUM comes factory equipped with precision adjustable open sights. The receivers are drilled and tapped to accept M.O.A.'s ringed scope mounts. The standard grip is smooth on both sides. Shot groups of 1/2" and less at 100 yards have been obtained with most of the chamberings that we offer. The M.O.A. MAXIMUM has been used in the sport of silhouette for the past 25+ years and boasts an impressive list of winners using the MAXIMUM. The accuracy and reliability of silhouette shooting carries over into your hunting. With the large selection of chamberings to choose from, you can cover everything from prairie dogs to elk.

You seem to have overlooked something in 6.5x55 Swede, the finest rifle cartridge ever developed.

Re: next rifle? update
well thanks for all your comments....
there are 3 rifles that have I have the itch for...
First rifle I have a hankering for, is a 9422m XTR, with the checkering...
never owned a 22 mag...its just a classic little rifle ..perfect...
second rifle that I have interest is the 1876, centennial model, 45-60,
from Uberti....I would rather have an original....but, too many $$$$ for a descent one..
this is just a classy looking rifle....elegant lines....28"
http://www.uberti.com/video/index.php?v ... 385c578ee0
third is the 1886 in 45-70...this one has to be an original....no made in japan rifles for me...
but, here too, too many $$$$ for a descent one..most likely end up with a marlin 1895sbl
This is what I would like to take to Alaska...it would also do a nice number on hogs down here.

Honorable Mention
Model 71 and model 92 44-40 SRC....

Re: next rifle? update
I have an older 9422 in LR, and one of the last ones made in 9422M.....I also have a decent Marlin Mountie from early sixties, and that would be the one to go if I had to sell a .22....Those Wrenchchesters just can't be beat. The .22 Mag in a rifle is a surprisingly kick-azz round, even a bit explosive with CCI Hollow Points and those flat tipped CCI FMJs......38 Special power in a rimfire.First rifle I have a hankering for, is a 9422m XTR, with the checkering...

Re: next rifle? update
I'm still "upset". (overstating, but for lack of a better term) no one is making a decent .32-anything (pistol caliber) - .32 H&R, .327, or .32-20--in a slim, lightweight, no baloney, decently-wooded carbine (and rifle)--sub $900 (ie, leaving out the 73s). C'mon Rossi--or somebody--give us a .32__ 92! At this stage I'm not even sure I care which specific caliber (of above), I like 'em all--but .327 would seem to make the most sense, all the better if it can also chamber H&R (No used Marlin .32 H&R's need apply however; just doesn't do it for me, especially being over-barreled as they are. Otherwise, they can always be re-stocked with better wood. Yes, I know, re-barreled too, but now we're getting into even more serious $$. Prefer the Win design anyway, but Marlin had an opportunity there.).
