Very interesting caliber chambering in a Win 95

Post by SteveR »

One of the members here graciously sent me a link to this forum:
http://forums.nitroexpress.com/showflat ... t=all&vc=1

Thank you Schauckis (Lars)!!!

This would be the ultimate round for me, I have several 9.3x62mm bolt guns, as well as many 7.62x54r bolt guns, so I have all the components I would need for loading the 9.3x54r or 9.3x53r (the Finnish round); only thing missing is the dies. And of course the Win 95, but if I came across one I would have to buy it.

I know the 9.3x62mm is accepted in Africa, but does anyone know if the 9.3x53r makes the cut?

The 9.3X53R ranks right up there with the 35 Rem.----200gr at 2000fps

shawn_c992001,

That forum has a lot of good stuff on it. The one member "9.3x57" has spent lots of time working up loads for the 9.3x57mm, it is not listed in much of the manuals here in the US. He shot quite a few different big game with it and he really loves the caliber.

J35nut,

I would say the 9.3x57mm is a little more than the 35Rem, you can get a 285gr out at 2100fps. Where the 35Rem is pushing a 200gr out around the same.

Good morning
Have a couple 95's but all are caliber .30 US. It is interesting all the different calibers the factory chambered. I see ten in the Blue Book and that does not count the special orders for varias countries. I have always thought a caliber .375 on a Krag case would be fun. Or the .375 -06 even better.

IMO, the ultimate factory caliber for the '95 in 35 W.C.F. I have been shopping for a shotgun butt rifle in that caliber for some time., but all that you see at "reasonable" prices are those abominable crescents.:)

Yep The 9.3x57 would be right up there with .358 Win.
The 9.3x53R would be pretty close to 35 Rem.

Have fun

I meant to post 9.3x54r earlier, but it is a moot point, the 9.3x54r and 9.3x57 are ballistic twins. Most European reloading manuals I have seen use the same powder and bullet weight for both.
