The ME Moose Lottery was just called ....

Post by 86er »

... and for the 20th year putting it for it I did not draw a tag -again. On the other hand, my friend Bill got his second one in two years, the only two he has ever put it for! Well, time to make different plans for September/Oct!

I gave up on the norteastern moose lotteries about 5 years ago !

If I ever kill an eastern moose it'll most likely be in Newfoundland

Sorry about the moose lottery, but maybe this is just a sign that you are meant to return to Colorado this September to hunt elk and bear.

Sorry you missed out again :(

better luck next year.

I didn't fail the test, I just found 100 ways to do it wrong.

The Maine lottery is a tough nut to crack. There have been many allegations of impropriety in regards to the picking of winners. Some families seem to be exceptionally lucky while others never have seen that elusive permit in their lives. We've been trying for over fifteen years and so far nothing. We have a ton of points for preference but all for naught.

I suppose I can't complain. So far I have taken three moose in New Hampshire but I would like to go again. Moose hunting is a great thrill especially with a handgun.

Well I'm gonna complain...again...and loudly!!! This "lottery" is a scam! I have been putting in for 20 years, my buddy Kenny for 25+, My buddy Dave for 20+, My buddy Chris for 15, my brother for 15+ and none of us have ever been drawn!!!! I see the same names year after year, and 3 or 4 members of the same family being drawn again!!! The mathematical possibility of 1 person being drawn is bad enough, but 2 or 3 members of the same family being drawn is astronomical!!!! EVen with the changes that have been made to the lottery, there seems to be alot of "paperclips" placed on some of the entries year after year......

Sorry guys, had to vent. Don't mean to take it out on all of you. Now I can get on with my day.

I'm not usually inclined to be this way but it sounds like it's time to lawyer up.

After $20 a pop, just to apply for a ME Moose permit drawing (with NO refund for losers), I also gave up after 20 years (about 1985).

I just felt the non-refundable "lottery" $20 app fee(s) were just another revenue raising scam (just think HOW MANY applicants donate each year), and the usual suspects were the ones that actually kept getting permits.

from the Maine F&W website
We set aside 10% of all permits for nonresidents and the remainder of the permits go to residents. The resident and nonresident drawings are held separately.

I've lost track of how many years in a row I've put in for a Elk tag. I do though now have 7 preference points for Black Bear and plan on setting up a hunt for next year.

I gave up at 15 years. I wish I had all the money I spent on it. What a rip off.

Texas has a bunch of lottery draw hunts and gave up on them as well. Not drawn in my lifetime.
