A MILESTONE

Post by JimT »

Today Twyla and I celebrate 25 wonderful years of marriage .. and out of the 40 years that we've been married, that ain't bad. It would've been nice if they were consecutive .... :D

When I was younger I was so pretty all the girls were after me. I had to carry a stick to keep them away! One day I dropped my stick and Twyla grabbed me. I've been hers ever since. No .. it's not because she has the stick now ... even if she does.....

I am blessed to be married to a beautiful woman who has the gift of stick-with-it! She has put a lot of work into me. There is no way I could be this good without her. She has stuck with me through good and bad, hard times and fun times, and has blessed me more than she will ever know. We started an adventure 40 years ago and that adventure is still happening! Who knew it would take us around the world?

Seriously, both Twyla and I give Papa God all the credit for us still being married. It has been His grace that has kept us together and kept us going. And we still need His help .. every day.

Congratulations Jim & Twyla, the honeymoon is still ongoing, the fire still burns.

Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their hard work.  For if one of them should fall, the other one can raise his partner up. But how will it be with just the one who falls when there is not another to raise him up?
Moreover, if two lie down together, they also will certainly get warm; but how can just one keep warm? And if somebody could overpower one alone, two together could make a stand against him. And a threefold cord cannot quickly be torn in two.
Ecclesiastes 4:9-12

The strongest cord like a strong marriage has 3 cords the husband, the wife, and most importantly our heavenly Father & creator. You and Twyla are proof of that. :D

I sometimes introduce my (first and only) wife at social gatherings by saying her name prefaced with "This is my first wife, ....". It's kind of fun to see people nod and smile and then a minute or so later they're off in some corner with another couple, gesturing towards us, whispering questions to see if they know who the second one is and why she's not there instead of the first one.

Amen, brother! .... and congratulations on your milestone. May the years ahead just keep getting better.

Congrats to you and Twyla. 25 out of 40? That's excellent!  In Jun of 1970, my best friend & I wanted to sneak off to get married. Uncle Sugar foiled our plans... but only temporarily! :P I say we're still together because we've never wanted a divorce at the same time. She sez it's because she refuses to admit she ever execised such poor judgement. We were talkimg yesterday about what we've learned from each other; her, how to shoot and clean guns; me, which fork to use and when. All needed skills on appropriate occasions! :P

Jim, I reckon you could probably say the same cause when folks ask me about our 52 years of marrige. I just tell them to read Psalm 124 verse 1 "If it had not been for the Lord who was on our side", that's all I can say.
God Bless ya'll for your work over there.
