That sign should be posted at many well known universities!

I think the last time I was in a big city, I heard LOTS of 'funny sounds', there were LOTS of 'bad smells', and various combinations of men, women, and not-sure-which were hanging all over one another outdoors in what to them I'm sure seemed very 'sexual' ways. . .

. . . so shouldn't that sign warn the country folks about the big-city. . . ???

A similar sign needs to be posted in areas where heavy industry, airports and military bases are located. It amazes me how people will move into an area then complain about what's already there. Perhaps we need a form signed during escrow that folks understand these things are already there and they accept their existance.

Yep, there used to be an area in southern L.A. county called (of all things) Dairy Valley. Several family owned, small dairys (with the accompaying odors and flies). One dairy's owner died and family sold property and a housing tract went up. Suddenly the area was re-zoned to residential. Almost immediately, the complaints about odors and flies went up and eventually forced out all the dairys (a dairy would sell, houses go in, complaints, pressure on dairys, and dairy sell, then more houses, etc). There is no more Dairy Valley in L.A. County, just "Cerritos" and some rich developers...

There used to be lots of small dairies all over SoCal. I grew up around them as that's what my dad did for a living. Slowly but surely, either because the land became too valuable, or too much pressure for neighbors, they all disappeared. Dad ended up working for the Post Office and retired with a pretty good pension. Still, I miss cows.

Today, most of the dairies are large corporate owned places. The funniest things I've seen on TV are the "California Cows" commercials. Holsteins in a green pasture running from clouds and laughing at a Wisconsin cow talking about snow. If most folks realized that dairy cows lived in there own excrement and were only cleaned up before milking, and shot full of antibiotics to deal with the things their living conditions engender, they'd never drink milk or eat cheese.

Heck, I've even thought about shooting some video of the dairy "farms" off Interstate 5 and sending them to the local news. You never know, they might actually get shown. Now, you may be thinking I an anti cow/dairy person. Completely the opposite, I love milk and cheese, and I know where it comes from. I just hate the BS the California Dairy Council puts out. Heck, it's lying plain and simple.
