New meaning to "Magazine Ban" in UK

Post by pshort »

Howdy,
I ran into this report somewhere and thought I'd pass it along....

http://www.thisiscornwall.co.uk/shootin ... story.html

I'd like to hear comments from our UK lever friends 'bout this...

Thanks,

Paul

We're not far behind them here in the U.S. :(

Still, a couple of times just "because I could", I went out on my lunch break and bought guns. :o

One time it was an AR-15, and the other time a Charter Bulldog. Good to be a midwestern American.

I can't explain why most Americans are such idiots - why should one of our friends from the UK be asked to explain the stupidity of the British mob?

We have the 2nd Amendment which falls to luck or providence. Were it not for that the grinding march of "progressive" idiocy would have disarmed us too. It's just a matter of time - same thing will happen here.

As Oly said, it's hard to explain stupidity...
I think maybe in this case an ignorant person with power, listened to another ignorant person with whole load of BS and decided to be PC, so that the world would be a safer place.
After the shooting at Dunblane, I found it difficult to find any shooting magazines, so I pointed out to management that at least they were still making money by selling pornography.

W H Smith will not be getting my custom again but I will let them know why.

Most folks refer to that abbrevivation as "politically correct"; I, on the other hand, feel the true meaning is "public cowardice".

Howdy,
I don't think I'm an idiot for wanting comments. I'm curious about the validity of the article.. Here's another article about the same thing:

What they did locally is stop selling any gun or hunting mags at our big box book stores. Of course they have run all the small shops out of business already.

Earlier this year, Animal Aid, Britain's largest animal rights organisation, published a report which claimed that the "lurid, pro-violence content" of country sports magazines could have a "corrosive, long-lasting effect on impressionable young minds".
Ducks Unlimited... "lurid, pro-violent content with corrosive, long lasting effects on impressionable young minds."

Wandering around a market on Saturday I saw a stall selling old books an magazines, the only thing of interest to me was a well worn, August 1959 copy of "Guns" the seller wanted £2 for it  but let me have for £1 because he had complaints about the two dead deer on the front cover!...

Interestingly, I read inside that an inquiry of about fifty lawyers in Chicago Ill., not one knew the words or meaning of the 2nd Amendment to the Federal Constitution, so no change there then!

Great articles in the magazine, well worth the £1. :D
