Um, well, gosh, I have had a Utilikilt for about four years now. It does get some attention when I go out. I am sure these are the folks manufacturing this item for 5.11. They are actually pretty comfy on a warm day, and the girls do wonder what you have on underneath. In fact, I suggested to the guy who owns Utilikilt in Seattle that they market some underwear that said "You just had to find out didn't you?" on it ...

From what I heard, 511 put that out originally as a joke but demand became so heavy they started making them.

Old Ironsights --- two things...wouldn't want to see an LEO try to handcuff a combative individual, on the ground, who's high on meth, while wearing a tactical kilt (the thought alone hurts my eyes)...secondly, the cold, rainy, windy, snowy pacific northwest graveyard shifts might hinder the effectiveness of the kilt, but might improve ones alertness (think air-flow)---just thinking of an LEO climbing quickly out of a Crown Vic Patrol Car...yikes... :O

I think a K-Bar would be appropriate in the stocking instead of the Shiv Dark in this case. Or, maybe something by Cold Steel.

I personally would only wear a kilt in my clan colors but hear in the islands a would kilt would be a killer. I was able to find cotton fabric by the yard in my clan (MacFarlane) tartan colors so I bought a couple yards and sewed myself an island style lavalava, much cooler than wool.

Unfortunately, if you follow the embedded link it goes to a page saying "no longer available"...

But I have it from a reliable source (The 5.11 Customer services guru) that the Web often Lies.
Regarding your inquiry, since the Tactical Duty Kilt is not a permanent item in our line, any remaining Kilt orders need to be placed over the phone with our Customer Service Department so that we can check availability. We do have a very limited supply remaining.

You may reach Customer Service at 866-451-1726 Monday through Friday from 630am-5pm Pacific Time. Any representative will be able to assist you.

I don't reckon I'd be calling any of those Scottish lads sissies for wearing Kilts. They'd the the same class of men that make all proud in war, wherever they fight. Anyone recall the Scottish bayonet charge in Iraq? They were outnumbered and running low on ammo, so what's the logical thing to do? Fix bayonets and charge!

Here's the tale,

http://www.leatherneck.com/forums/showt ... ge-in-Iraq

Seems most of the Iraqi militias dont care to face bayonet charges. Most fled, the remainder were killed.

OI, or anyone else that wants a kilt in their families colors, they may not be sitting on the shelf somewhere for sale, but I'd bet there are makers that would make one up in any available clan colors. May cost extra if the colors have to be made up special.
"Far better it is to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs even though checkered by failure, than to rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy nor suffer much because they live in the gray twilight that knows neither victory nor defeat." -Theodore Roosevelt-

I saw the April Fools Day thing from 5.11 about the kilts and got on board when the joke turned around on them and there was enough interest that they made a batch. I got two of 'em: one each of OD green and desert sand/coyote tan or whatever ubertactical name they call that color this week.

One thing that struck me was the price. It was something like $65 each. IIRC, that's a fraction of what even the Utilikilt lists at. Additionally, they have regular front pockets on them like pants and the side cargo pockets have internally partitioned-off sections that amount to magazine pouches, one side for pistol-sized and the other for AR-sized (and the cargo pockets are detachable so you can switch which side they're on).

I dunno that I'd ever have the nerve to wear a kilt at regular public places, but I could see myself in one of these at certain shooting events in hot weather. It's not like everyone isn't laughing and making fun of me there already.

What's left in stock is going for $59 ea. WAAY cheaper than the Utilikilt (150-330 Federal Nothing In Reserve Notes).

I got Black & Green. These are likely to get Bloody. Tan & Blood are a bad match.

I was tempted to buy one of the "tactical kilts" another company was selling a few years back, just to wear for fun at work from time to time. Then I realized I spent a good deal of time up on ladders, and that probably wouldn't work out too well.
