Farewell Guy

Post by Ji in Hawaii »

It's 4:55 am, I just got back from the hospital emergency, been there since midnight. I met Guy when I first entered middle school 7th grade in 1971. He was always smiling and cheerful with not a mean bone in his body. He was a gifted athlete starting out in varsity football as star quarterback in his freshman year. He really had promise and got a full scholarship his senior year into a exclusive private school with hopes of a scholarship to a mainland university. I debilitating knee injury his senior year cost him his dream. This lead to depression, drugs, and prison several times. He finally found faith in the Bible, cleaned up his act, and got baptized. In the meantime I fell in love with his sister who became my wife in 1981. Due to his years of drug abuse he recently had to start going to dialysis. Tonight during his dialysis treatment he had a heart attack, By the time the ambulance got him to the hospital just a short drive away he was already gone. He just turned 53 a week ago. This has been quite devastating to my wife his sister. She did have lunch with him just yesterday, and looked good and cheerful. Farewell Guy my friend, my BIL, you are already missed. Rest in peace. :(

Ji,

The two of you have my sincerest condolences. I rarely have the words to express what I want to say at times like this. All I can do is say, I know how you both are feeling. Hang in there, and be strong for your wife.

That's much too soon, at 53. Sorry that you lost your friend. I hope you find at least some measure of peace in knowing he had been reconciled to his Lord.

Now helping my in-laws with making arrangements for funeral since I'm the only one in the family with experience in this area having to deal with both my parents remains 2 months apart. Still difficult to accept Guy is gone. We had our strong differences especially when he was abusing drugs causing grief to all around him but he got over that mainly with his sister's (my wife)love, help, patience and dedication, and we made our peace before his passing so I'm glad for that. He had it rough but he is resting peacefully now.

Thank you again friends and brother for your support. :D
