Prayer request - accidental shooting

Post by Ysabel Kid »

While I was out with my son's field trip I received a couple e-mails from friends in the town I used to live in, the home-base for the company I work for. There was an accident at the local gun club early this week (the Midland {MI} Sportsman's Club). Apparently a guy was out there alone sighting in his revolver when he slipped on the ice. The handgun discharged. It was a .454 Casull, and he took the round to the head. No need to say more other than he didn't survive.

Worse, he was supposed to pick up his son from hockey practice, and when he didn't arrive, everyone got worried. Bad enough this happened - worse yet he has a family and a child or children.

I'm sure I'll hear more about this as the days go on. :( Be careful out there...

Man, that's tough Jay. Prayers up. One of the things I've learned in this life, when your number comes up there's nothing you can do to change it. Better make sure your bags are always packed...

My buddy was one of the investigating officers for this incident......I'll hear more about tonight as he is coming over for dinner but I don't believe there is more to add than what you said.

Looks like a clear cut case of bad timing or bad luck or what ever you want to call it. I understand he was considered quite a courteous and safe member of the club.

P.S. The Midland Daily news has an article on its website and his obit if anyone wished to check it out.

Prayers sent for his family and friends to help them cope with his number being up.

To quote a Grateful Dead song, "Goes to show, you don't ever know, watch each card you play and play 'em slow."

In my business, when you arrive to a scene for just such a call, sometimes all you can do is think, "Man, talk about 'When it's time, it's time...'"

At least he didn't get cancer and suffer for a year before leaving this world.

Ive often opined that I want to go quickly, too.
If the Lord allows, that is.

I'm sorry to hear about this. But there is one thing I've learned from living in IL and that is when you slip and fall on ice, you rarely have control of where or how you fall.

Read this earlier but didn't have time to post.

It is sad indeed. Prayers said for all concerned, first responders included.

I pray that he is at peace, and that his family can find the faith to get through this sad event.
