currently pig hunting at Vandenberg AFB.

haven't seen or heard any pigs yet ..... but you know the drill: it's still better than any day in the office.

so far, perfect weather.
camped under a big oak tree, no one else in the campground.
enjoyed a hot shower this morning in the base gym locker room.
internet access in the base library.
all the fun, none of the privations.

and there was a missile launch at 3am this morning: bright and noisy.

Cheers,

Carl

Good times!

Say, where is this AFB?
Do they let people in to cull hogs?

(You know where I'm headed with this...)

Lompoc CA.....

I've caught the missle launches from Santa Maria a time or two. Very Cool.

Are staying at the camp grounds over off of San Antonio Rd? If so are you hunting area 4?
The famcamp over at the main side of base is really nice they have showers, laundry, and a TV lounge.

I hear over buy the golf course is the place to go they come out of the brush across the street to tear up the greens on the course. I havent been over there yet I more then likely will set up over there the next time I am up there.

Good luck up there. Been trying to head north for a month now and never made it.

We see those missle from Palmdale, pretty sight but not what I'd want for an alarm clock though

Saturday morning SITREP:

Have been hunting area 4, only one pig heard, none seen, lots of sign. The pig I heard was rooting around in thick brush under a tree at 0555: I was maybe 20 feet away, couldn't see anything, pitch black. He finally wandered away.

Great weather, fantastic green hills, very peaceful.

Was camped for 2 nights at the San Antonio FamCamp campground annex (on Grant Rd, off of Richmond Rd, off of San Antonio Rd). Now have a VOQ room for 3 nights and am enjoying the indoor plumbing.

Over by the golf course: I'm pretty sure that whole area is shotgun only. Double-check with the DFG folks.

Cheers,

Carl

p.s. a missile launched Thursday morning at 0300 .... bright and noisy.
