I have been using Kirk's loading for 38-55 with 5744 powder, it sure is nice,

5744 for cast bullets in all 3 cartridges.
Rl15 for the 30-30 and h414 for the 3006.

Reloder 7 is very good for 38/55 and for several others including 45/70

For nice light recoil plinking loads.........Unique is hard to beat in bot 38-55 and 45-70

5744 and 2400 are the only ones I use so far but I only shoot cast bullets at paper targets with mine.

38-55 = 5744

30-06 = SR4759

30-30 = RL7, SR4759, 5744

All three powders are excellent for cast bullet use. :wink:

4064 for the 30-06.

I use IMR 4198 for my jacketed hunting loads in the .38-55
I get good results with it in .45-70, too.

Beat to it! I love Unique for the light loads in both these.

3031 is my go-to in the 38-55. Accuracy so good I don't look at anything else for my hunting loads.

.38-55 = 5744 (it was actually in 375Win cases),
.30-06 = IMR4350, W760
