Single Action Revolvers

Post by ninjajimmy »

Very exciting.....just bought some single action revolvers online. I had a Ruger New Blackhawk .357 a while ago and now been thinking I wanted something a little more "cowboy" like. I don't have them in hand yet, but should in the next week or so. I'm working on acquiring a 3.5" Cimarron Thunderer .357 too.

I'd like to possibly get some leather for them as well, but not sure where to look at this point.

I went with .357 Mag as their are more options in factory ammo, I can run .38 Special, and I have two lever guns that all can use the same ammo.

Uberti El Patrón .357 Mag 3.5" - The gunsmiths at Uberti fit each El Patrón with high-grade, US-manufactured Wolff springs and each revolver has been carefully tested and certified for flawless fit and function.

EMF Great Western II - Express grip, 4.75" .357 Mag - I believe this is a Custom from the factory as it had the case coloring done by Doug Turnbull. I'm going to call/email Turnbull to verify.

I'd love to hear your thoughts on these and also see what some of you guys have as well.

I like the lower hammer spur on the EMF. Both are sweet. Looking at a tuned gun from Longhunt in .38/.357

Do post a picture of this one when you get it.

I’ve had the hankering for one of these ever since I saw the advertisement

Wow! Prices really shot up on those

In all actuality, I would probably get one like you're looking at

+1 some fine looking firearms there. I like that El Patron. Held a similar Uberti/Cim/Taylors at a Bass Pro Shop with the polished checkered grips - and was really taken by their current levels of apparent quality. Sure enjoy my Cim Model P .44.

Nice. I like the short Thunderer style too. The EMF you show was from their Great Western series customs. They were brought in from Pietta and sent out for the color-case and grips.

I have the GWII Pony Express in 45lc stainless. I like the low hammers too, so I ordered it with the Bisley style hammer.
I call it my large frame Bulldog.

In a SAA when it comes to imports I prefer the Pietta. Internally they are period correct to the 2nd gen guns. They have recoil bushing, and pressed in hardened bolt cams and even the threads are the same. But, they went with the coil and plunger hand spring eliminating colts weak link.

Cool, ENJOY!!
Here is one of my shorties. Ruger Montado .45 Colt.

With some Maple grips I made.

OH, and those shorter hammers are handy but they do increase the effort required to cock the gun due to decreased leverage against the spring.

Sounds like a derivation of one on the tombstone of Lester Moore in Boot Hill at Tombstone, AZ:

"here lies Lester Moore; two shots from a .44; no Les, no more"

A fitting epitaph I guess.
