Lever's and Cast Bullets
Levers and Cast Bullets...does it get any better? I will never understand the racks upon racks of synthetic modern rifles, lined up and looking like a bunch of cloned storm troopers. Wood and blue in a classic, proven American rifle will always do it for me.

Thank you Brothers. It is a Cumberland Rifleman's Knife and supposedly a Kit knife with a Solingen blade. It will shave like a razor. I would like to have Rob Leahy make a scabbard for it. Rifles are 336 Texan in 44 mag. and Win. Big Bore 94 in 356 Win.

Re: Lever's and Cast Bullets
sure, if you can count on your target to be 150 yards or closer; those bolt guns ventilate targets at 300-400 yards.

Re: Lever's and Cast Bullets
I could make the 356 Win a much farther shooting rig if I wanted to. I hate the idea of putting a carry handle on it though.

Nice post.
As you know I traded my `long range` bolt gun for a special high capacity close in system.
Not cast bullets though yet!

Re: Lever's and Cast Bullets
Does it get any better with leverguns and cast bullets? Yes..........but only when you add single action revolvers in with the leverguns.

Re: Lever's and Cast Bullets
Cast bullets... Are there any other kind???
Re: Lever's and Cast Bullets
Are you sure cast bullets still work? Why, all the gun magazines agree that the Kevlar coated deer that have evolved here are just too tough for a cast bullet. Besides, if you can't hit your target from 600 yards, you just aren't trying. Why, we all have heard about how deer can see you and smell you from half a mile, and that bowhunting is impossible due to the inability of anyone getting closer than 400 yards from a deer. (I also sell bridges)

Re: Lever's and Cast Bullets
Very nice rig and fox Nath. I like that a lot.
Piller...it is amazing how our ancestors ate isn't, without a 7mm Mag? I am not an accomplished hunter like many of you, but I was very impressed with the performance of both bullets above on Texas Hogs. That slow moving 265 gr. .432 Ranch Dog was going so slow I was reluctant to use it, but my boy shot it so well, we went with it. Complete penetration, quartering towards us on a mature bore at the shoulder and a quick death. This is the off/exit side, withe entrance on other side right on the shoulder. You could as old Elmer said eat right up to the bullet hole. My buddy and his son used 243's and they required finishing shots, with lots of meat destruction. In the Winchester, the .359 Beartooth 210 gr. was a hammer....easily blew through the gristle plate on both sides and completely destroyed the bones at the shoulder......lots of blood out of both sides and a crater in the dirt where it finally expended itself on the off side. Neither Hog went far.
Here you go Sixgun...very true!

Bolt guns at 400 or 500 yards! Can't you get any closer?
