What is this?

Post by tom deinek »

WTS ad on Michigan Gun Owners board:

"Hello mgo we'll the time has come and it's time for me to let go my favorite lever action!! 1948 marlin 30-30 .32 Winchester special lever action "

Is it a .32 Winchester and he's calling it .30-30 because that caliber is common in lever guns?

BTW, he's asking $400.

You can't fix stupid, but you can numb it with a 2X4.

Probably a .32 WS that he's been shooting .30-30s in for the last 29 years. And wonders why he can't hit anything....

If it is his favorite, then why does he not know what caliber it is?

Hey, cut this guy some slack. He has a Marlin 36 in 32 Special. He meant to type "36" and the fingers did "30-30". My fingers do that sort of thing all the time. I try to catch those little flubs, but sometimes they just slip on by.

 Just a few years ago I wouldn't've understood how anyone could do that, but I've since done it myself...

Knew a guy who referred to any bolt action as a 'thirty-ought".

Even if it was a .22.

Yeah, retraining him took a LONG time...

A lot of people still refer to any bicycle with gears as a "10 speed" too --- sometime in the 70's they became 12 speeds, 14 speeds in the 80's, 16, then 18 in the 90's -- now 22 speed road bicycles are common, and 27 and 30 speed mountain bikes as well --- or calling any soda a "Coke"
