What beautiful country and great tale of the old mining days. Thanks, Danny!

Real nice country!

Re: Out & about pics
There are a bunch of hardrock mines in the area some are in the wilderness border area some have a 2 track to them most have a stock trail as the mines shipped their ore by mule train to a communal stamp mill just about every tailings pile is full of galena and quartz alot of stuff in the can & bottle dumps around the mines plus alot of equipment in the adits on miner rail. The gold mining shutdown law for WW2 broke the mines and they never recovered, there was a mining community behind my place that had about 10 familys 50 people and they worked till the mid 50's I found a 34 ford sedan jacked up and a belt off the back rim being used as a donkey engine to power different stuff located a tent city and miner rail cross beams and a coffer dam with flume so they could work the crick bed. It is interesting how the miners looked for the gold they would pan up a creek till they ran out of gold then head up hill digging coyote holes on quartz/rock out cropping till they found the source looking up from a crick you can see glory holes in a pyramid layout till theres a adit. The miner trails were usually put in with a mule pulling a fresno blade/bucket. danny

BigSky56 -- thanks for the pics and the mining history, we have some abandoned gold mines not far from where I live...probably a tough way to earn a buck... :)

Just beautiful. You're a lucky man to live in such country. I know if I ever get out there I'd never come back.
