More on talking guns and hunting...

Post by 86er »

I didn't want to steal OI's thread but in the spirit of his thread here are two examples of good news:

A friend of mine has the Mommy and kid get together with the childrens classmates and volunteered to have it at their house. Some of the Mom's commented to his wife about the one deer head on the wall next to the one duck on display. (what would they say about my house with 100 different mounts?) The comments were something like "disgusting", "cruel" and "violent". My friends wife told him maybe they shouldn't advertise and should take the head down.

My friend went off on a rant - called the Moms into the room and explained what the deer meant to him, how he got it and what hunting contribute to society in money, food and conservation. Well one Mom that had remained silent spoke up and said she thought it was interesting and a part of American heritage ( I like how she put that). Well my buddy volunteered to take her kid shooting BB guns. All the other kids wanted to go so even the two "whiny Moms" gave in and let their kids go too!

Second point - while on the airplane back to TX I sat next to two women. One had been to a bunch of places I had also been to. She asked what I did there and the answer was "hunting". The other lady started asking questions about hunting and got an ear full. She was most interested in "what do you do with the animals"? She went on to say her son-in-law was a fisherman but has always wanted to hunt and her daughter discouraged it. I invited all of them to turkey hunt in TX (They live in New Mexico). Last night the son-in-law called and he is going to come with his wife (but she is going to watch to see if she likes it.) He said he had an old 30-30 so I pointed him towards the Leverguns forum!

Good job 86er. Just think, if we all got one person into the shooting sports and/or hunting we would double our numbers. That would be great in several ways.

Wonderful news!

We all need to spread the 'Gospel' in the same manner whenever possible!
