Guys, are the new miroku parts compatible with the vintage 1895 Winchesters? Still looking for an extractor for my 1895.
Thanks,
Terry

.
I don't think so - Numrich carries different part numbers for each.

Contact Turnbull Restoration, they will do it. Only problem is you will spend money getting it beautified too.H_Talon wrote:I wish, I'd love to have the tang safety removed on my 1895 miroku.. not that

Fellow leverguns forum member, Mike Hunter, does the tang safety gig, much less expensively than Turnbull's cost - and has done beautiful work for some other forum members.

What I did on mine is:H_Talon wrote:I wish, I'd love to have the tang safety removed on my 1895 miroku.. not that

Removed the tang safety
Pulled out the hammer, used a Browning hammer as a guide, and cut a real half-cock notch.
Now the hammer still rebounds, but the sear drops into the halfcock notch, so it has a halfcock safety. I can't just cut off the rebound arm of the hammer strut to stop the rebound feature, because that arm supports the strut on the receiver of the rifle. So it rebounds to a half-cock safety, and there is no tang safety.
You can fill the safety hole with brass or ivory or something, or cover it with a tang sight base.
One day I will have mine welded up nicely, and the safety notch on the side of the hammer really should be filled.

By the way, I have tried to find a source for Browning 1895 parts and came up empty.
