Did I get shafted on my new AR

Post by Chuck 100 yd »

Everyone talks about AR15 "platforms". I have looked all over mine and read the book, I cant find a "platform" anywhere. What is it used for? Do you stash stuff there? Stand on it?? It seems to shoot fine without it.
What say you??

It's ok not to have a platform, as long as it is Tactical....!!!!!

So, if it's a "tactical platform" it's too cool for school?

It has to be a Tactical Platformless AR...

tactical platforms are cool ! I've also heard the term "tactical shelf" before too (interchangeable with "German goiter", "beer storage device" , and other terms used to describe our bellies )

I'm around these AR guys all the time, along with about every other kind of guy. (straight guys, mind you) :D

The AR guys feel the need to be a step above and are products of the "new generation" who feel a need to be above "their daddies".

So......they call it a "platform", you know how they have to be superior. Did you ever notice that today everything is an "upgrade"?

Punks! When they see me at the club shooting an M-1A or a Garand, they come up and say,"cool, old school". Punks! While they are trying to shoot the 200 meter chickens with their $2,000 dollar 40X Nightforce scopes on $3,500 Les Baer's, I'm banging away at the 500 meter ram.....with open sights. Punks!---6

Oh! As far as being "shafted", well, let me tell you a story about how Mescalero sold me a gold mine. He got the gold and I got the shaft. :D ---6

If you don't have the 'platform', it's not a real AR.

It's an after-market knock off.

Kinda like a nickle plated Smithe & Weston revolver.

It's pretty, but it's not authentic.

I got shafted on my last arrow purchase.

The AR type of rifle does not seem to be a platform to me. I guess that is just what the people who think it is the perfect weapon have to say to justify their belief. Maybe they think it is a platform since you can exchange uppers and magazines and have a different caliber. In that case, the 1911 is a platform since it can be interchanged with a couple of calibers by changing the upper parts. My Glock 22 is a platform in that sense because I can change the barrel and have a .357 Sig, change the barrel and Magazine and have a 9mm. Good Grief! Yes, the AR is a good design, but no, it is not the perfect design, and no, it is not a flat place that has been elevated for the storage of materials above the floor.

No, they call it a platform because there are 326 different variations by 675 different manufacturers.

Let ME set the record straight. Mescaline calls me one night and says, "yo Sixgun, I got a keg of beer and a VERY nice Jeep for you and the only thing you need to do is come out to New Mexico and bring 12K in cash".

I says, " Yo bro, we be on". So I take a week off of work........(yea, I let down a bunch of beaners).....and cruise on out to N.M. and this is what I find. There was not even a tap on the keg.----6

It is a Jeep, so it probably started on the first try. With a little bit of Bondo it would be looking good.

Hey Ms Boots, I like you in the cowboy boots. I don't think those other things would fit a set of spurs very well at all. Wouldn't be much good for standing in the pen and roping your saddle bronc, either.
