I can already tell you have more class than most - anyone can like an AR or a Rem 700, but leverguns indicate sophistication!

Welcome!

Ya might want to delete the duplicate post before it gets added to and you can't delete it.

(Watch this guy, fellers, he's probably thinking he'll get twice as many welcomes if he posts twice... :? :D )

Anyhow, welcome aboard...!

The first centerfire rifle I ever shot was a pre-64 94 Winchester 30/30. My father bought it new in 1961. When I was very young I shot mostly 22lr rifles and revolvers. I was seduced by large cases and flat trajectories. I traded around a bit in my late teens and bought a Remington 700 in 7mm mag. I shot my first deer with that loud boomstick...at 40 yards! I suppose I am the sentimental sort as I still have that "side lever" rifle and the 94 my father left me. I have hunted with almost 25+ different rifles as well as archery equipment and even combat Tupperware (a Glock 35 in .40 S&W). In my 50`s, I enjoy hunting with a levergun probably more than anything else. I have used 30/30`s to .50 Alaskan from Wild West Guns. I find now that I essentially "bowhunt" with my leverguns as most shots where I hunt are less than 50 yards. When hunting out west I take a 300 mag sidelever as well as a short 45/70 for stalking the quaking aspens. You never know? I mainly hunt here in Kentucky where you can shoot 400 yards in fields or power line cuts but, if you are patient and observant , you can hunt most deer here with a fine levergun. I enjoy hunting more than shooting deer and other game animals. Less tracking and more fulfillment when the animal expires quickly.

I tend to be long winded on these subjects so I`ll close for now. MingoKid

Welcome, interesting stuff. You probably have the 30-30 I first saw in a Winchester catalog I almost memorized. Post a picture of that 94.

Welcome Kid! When I first saw that handle I was thinking Mingo County WV. I did some work there back in the late 70's. This is about the finest bunch of Christian Gentleman you'll find anywhere on the net.

Glad you're here.

Mingo Kid,
Looks like to me that you have competition from Ysable Kid.

Some of us are big headed and egotistical but don't let me bother you. :D
