Now the hard part...

Can ya help me pick a knife for this combo?

Not happy with most of these for this combo. I like a couple of the vintage trappers, but prefer a fixed blade for real work.

the trappers go well with the combo, but consider what you will be using the rifles and pistol for, then choose your knife in consideration of what you will need to skin, take care of them. I see several fixed blades that would go with them.

here is my .22 combo with knife: [img][/img]

Way too small for my hands. Just got the one below it and it's a 3 inch blade (for scale reference).

bsaride,

The pic of the IJ .22 Super Shot Sealed 8 almost brought tears of frustration to my eyes. My grandmother had one that she'd bought in IL many many years before IL had the anti gun laws. She kept it until her death in 1988. I was supposed to get it. But at the last minute she changed her mind and gave it to my idiot cousin. I was hurt and p.o.'d to say the least. As far as I know he still has my gun. Although I'll probably never see it again.

Love that Marlin. That's the way they should be made now. Not with the obese wood they put on them now.

I'm thinkin the little skinner with the wide blade in the center would be my choice, but I think that one would be my choice for about anything :D

That one and the mini filet above it are a pair I plan to use for camping
and fishing. They have thin blades and only partial tangs or I would use
them for heavier chores. I do like that set tho.

bsaride,
Your post had me up all night. Gotta ask. Why is the gorgeous pistol not shot? :D

and, if you don't intend to shoot it, why do you need a knife to go with the combo? :D :D :D :D

I'm thinking the solution is send it to me and I will break it in for you. !!

Been busy with other things and haven't made it to the range.
I wanted to take it to the SoCal Levergunners shoot, but new car is a wagon
so I'd have to lock it up. My handgun case wouldn't fit the two sizes
of locks I bought for the trip. When I first got it it had burred extractor
star that I finally got a 22 chamger reamer to take care of. I plan to
take it out within a week or two and will get a range report on it.

I'd pick my favorite knife, the yellow handled Case XX Trapper. It's in my pocket right now.

For me, a .22 combo would include a "sharpfinger". I haven't seen an original for a while but Sportsmans Guide sells a pretty good knockoff.

Of the ones you pictured, the 8th from the bottom, center; but, a Sharpfinger is what I'd pick for my uses. I usually seem to have more knives than I really need for the job, or have none!
