Sad news - Maine hunt with dad

Post by bigbore442001 »

This has been a very horrible week for our family. After church on Sunday I received a call on my cell phone that Dad has been rushed to the local ER.

Dad passed away late Sunday afternoon. He fixed breakfast for my mother, went to an early mass and then did some shopping. He came home and put things away. Then he sat down to rest and shortly passed away in his home.

My wife and I stayed with my mother overnight and we just finished the funeral arrangements and such. Fortunately we have some great friends to help us out in this great time of need.

All of us are at a great loss. Dad was a great man and gave so much of himself. Personally, I am very hurt and I just feel lost right now. I have been praying a great deal during this situation and really wished Dad didn't go right now. I know we all have a time to die but I and all of us never expected this. I was hoping for a few more years but it never happened.

Since Mom doesn't have any kind of internet connection I may not be able to respond to this for a day or two.

Sincerely

John

Prayers up especially for your Mom - it's likely the worst for her.

He DID manage to go in the midst of a Great Day - Faith, Friends and Family - and that is a sort of blessing. Still hard for the family though.

Please accept our deepest condolences' on the loss of your Dad.

Please consider how much you enjoyed being with him, for as long as you were able to (I lost my 41-year-old Dad when I was 11 years old).

I am so sorry for the loss of your dad. I read the earlier post about him drawing the moose tag for next season and I know you both were looking forward to that.

It sounds as if your dad was a wonderful man who led a full life and left many memories for his family. I know that a sudden loss is especially hard on the family, but it sounds as if he passed on without any suffering, which is a blessing. Hold on to the memories of him and honor him in the way you live your life.

I pray for the Peace from the Lord be with you, your mom and all your family. Rest upon Him and let your tears and your fears and your cares flow from you and let the love come in and comfort your emptyness in your heart.
He is in a better place now, it is our own selfishness that want them back here with us... but in a 'few' years we will be there too...
... My mother passed 5 years ago and dad passed 15, and I still miss them both, but I would not want them back here again, specially in the health conditions they were in.
God Bless.

Thank you all. Today was the day of his funeral mass. He was a member of the National Guard and was given a full military funeral at the cemetery. This is going to be very hard on all of us.

Again. Thank you all.

Again thank you all.

Believe it or not, Dad was picked for a New Hampshire moose permit.

Getting picked for two moose permits in one year is almost unheard of. I am flabbergasted.

Many are telling me that is a sign to go on a hunt for Dad. Last week I could not even think of it but I believe this is something I have to do. I wished Dad was still here.
