Found a nice 1968 Marlin 30-30 yesterday

Post by Mossyoak1957 »

Stopped into a gun shop yesterday and found a nice "New Haven" before Marlin moved to North Haven in late 68 1968 Marlin 336 RC 30-30.

I don't think the gun was ever used, still had the "Walnut" sticker on the forearm the bluing is barely rubbed off the top of the hammer, none of the screws look like they were ever fooled with, they are perfect, still has it's organelle round sight hood & sights and the "JM" hammer spur that Marlin use to ship with there guns.
Wood not drilled out for sling swivels.

Bore is perfect......basically the gun looks like it just came from the factory in 1968.

When I picked up the gun to look at it and turned the tag over to see the price I got a little dizzy....$295!

Couldn't resist....took it home with me.

Great find at a great price. I have a 35 rem. From 1969 and it is a very sweet rifle! Smooth and solid, and I personally love the sights from this era. Low profile and simple and fast on target. You will love it.

Also, this era has some of the trimmer forearms, if you are into that kind of thing.

Nice find! That happened to me once with a Marlin in .35 Remington. For the life of me, I can't understand why I traded that rifle........

I obviously have not been looking at the local shops hard enough! Nice find Tom. Let me know when you have time and we'll go to the range. Good job.

Nice find and good deal! I'm partial to the barrel band western forearm rifles myself.

It looks like the carbine was well cared for by previous owner(s). I've never been a big fan of white line spacers but some guys do like them.
