In The "Imagine That" Section......
Ripped from today's headlines......
---------------------------
"Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat urged people with a firearms license to carry their weapons instead of keeping them at home under lock and key."
"One advantage that Israel has is that there are quite a few ex-members of military units with operational combat experience," Barkat told his citizens. "Possessing weapons increases the confidence of residents, who know that in addition to police, there are many people who are not afraid to intervene. If we look at the statistics in Jerusalem and elsewhere, we see that aside from the police, civilians carrying weapons have foiled terror attacks. They will increase the likelihood of fast intervention."

The US politicians could learn a lot from the Israelis.

The big difference, besides the fact that they don't have the pansy can't we all just get along liberals that we have is............Israel don't play. They are in a serious fight for survival from all sides. The same tactics would work here but our guns cause crime and they can't be trusted

I read that all Israeli`s were suppose to do 2 years military service. That should make almost all older people vet`s. The Bible has plenty to say about Israel in the last days. Bluntly, it says all nations that stand for Israel will be blessed and those that rise against Israel gets the green weenie. I think Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu the very best living politician on earth. Wish he was POTUS!

"first do no harm" - gun control LAWS lead to far more deaths than 'easy access' ever could.

Re: In The "Imagine That" Section......
The vast majority of Israelis serve, but just like with our services, just serving and being a hard-charging gunslinger are two different things......
Their gun control laws are a screwy mix of British, Turkish and socialist-European laws (most of the Jews who bought up land in the area pre-1948 came from Europe). You can own ONE gun, and 50 rounds (total!). Issued weapons are exempt from this rule, so you may have an M16 in the closet or an Uzi, etc (not many Uzis these days, though they're popular with the kibbutzim).
I spent a couple weeks there in '99 and seeing an older gentleman in a 3- piece suit walking down the street with a slung Galil was normal (going to a reserve unit meeting), and every single uniformed IDF member in sight had a weapon and 3 magazines. Mostly M16s and M-4s at the time, artillery and armor units still having the Galil, senior officers occasionally had a Mini Uzi, and these days they're all going to the Tavor.
Having armed, uniformed types on the street everywhere helps, having armed civilians will be even better, but they don't make it easy (far, far harder than getting a CCW in almost any state in the US except maybe CA and D.C).
