Gun trains a little dog.

Post by Nath »

Good old Tia bolted some rabbit on dusk today.
The moderated shotgun was a great aid in getting young Jess involved and she coursed one too.
She is starting to show some promise!

You just keep on doing things right! Hunting with an experienced dog is good for a young dog.

I don't like them on rifles except 22lr. Moister is trapped and rots the crown.
LR is OK due to bullet lube everywhere.

This cheap shotgun don't matter none.

Lookin' good Nath and that new dog is coming along well for you. I knew you could do it.

I had to look up that Whippet cross and "lurcher". I am now informed.

See, told you her instincts would show.
She may not retrieve the way Tia does, but I bet she will show you where them wabbits is hiding, and maybe the foxes too.
If you can't train her to retrieve, then the exercise of doing your own retrieves will be good for you

Words of wisdom right there Nath.

Pretty soon you will have to tie the young dog up when you check your zero in the field, and hide sneak your gun out of the house when you just want to go shooting.

Always thought a 1/2 whippet 1/2 smooth fox terrier would be fun.
