"first do no harm" - gun control LAWS lead to far more deaths than 'easy access' ever could.

that's horrible, that 13-year old should have waited for the "village" to show up and offer words of comfort and peace to the intruders, who would have immediately laid down their weapons and respond with great remorse for their bad behavior -- BUT NO, what we now have is an innocent victim with a car full of bullet-holes and one of the gentle-folk shot to death by this misguided teen, the shame of it all... :)

The kid was probably a racist or something - charge him with a 'hate crime'...

He did good... other than the shooting at a fleeing car bit.

But it's hard to break "movie training".

At least this one seems to not be as apocryphal as the one that made the circuit on the web every few months a few years ago.

Old Ironsights - I was also wondering about shooting at a fleeting car. With the car leaving, does that mean the threat has ended or, since the criminals have already proven themselves a threat, does the threat still exist? I would assume differing state laws would have much to say about that.

As a non-LEO, and in many jurisdictions as an LEO, shooting at a fleeing vehicle is verboten.

There are occasions where it can be tactically justified, but, when legitimate, are rare.

Handgun bullets do not (generally) stop fleeing vehicles.

Put as many into the windshield of an approaching as you can, but with a fleeing vehicle the Plate is more important than extra holes.

Technically your right he shouldn't have shot once the threat is over and they are fleeing. However, in the real world given the kid is only 13 and the evidence given I doubt most prosecutors would want to prosecute the kid as they know in a jury trial they wouldn't win.

Of course not. No way he should be charged with anything.

Just saying that "training via Movie' leads to that response vs actual Threat Training.
