22 Mag comes through again.

Post by EdinCT »

I am stuck around the house due to vertigo issues this weekend so didn't get out with the muzzleloader. Well I stepped out on my front porch for an arm load of wood and saw this coyote in my field. I never thought she would hang around but she was laying down just over 100 yards from the house looking at me. One win 40 gr HP to the head and she is good.

Good.

In 2007 the state of Connecticut had 127,000 deer. Now it has around 60,000. One biologist claims it is due to bobcat and coyotes. I also suspect other factors but the fewer coyotes the better.

Good shooting, I'll quote Sixgun "Somethings just look better dead", the 22 mag is a predator killer its my preferred gun for coyotes, and wolves, I like the CCI or fiocchi game points but use solids too. danny

That was a good shot!

We don't see Winchester ammo anymore over here. It was one of my favorite's.

Good shooting. I really love the .22mag also. I have a Remington 597 in .22mag that does some great shooting on anything under 200 yards.

Rube, I have a small field on each side of my barn one is 160 yards long and the other is 140. No coyote has ever got out of it alive thanks to that 22mag and there has been a bunch.(Used to keep a flock of sheep) I also have killed woodchucks to 180 yards over the years. The experts say 100 yards max for coyotes and 150 for chucks.
I sent the rifle to a real gun smith and had a trigger job when I bought it and its a shooter when I have the Winchester 40 gr shells on hand.
