A Hunter's Christmas

Post by crs »

What is not to like?

Image

A new custom made double rifle chambered in .405 WCF, LL Bean shooting shirt, 12 year old Irish whiskey and Cal Pappas’ new book, The Double Rifle Primer. Good Times! Also time to book another trip to Africa.

A follow up post on the rifle will be made ASAP.

Anxiously awaiting the range report on that rifle. Save that whiskey to celebrate blooding the rifle.

MM,
If it ever stops storming here (tonight a tornado just missed us by a mile to the west and knocked the power out for 3 hours) I will beat feet to the range and see if it works. Meanwhile, I am learning and documenting all I can about it and planning my first shooting outing at a friends range.

Blaine,
Santa may love me, but I am not so sure about my wife; so I have to sell a couple of safe queens to help pay for the double, one of which you may recognize.
Unfired Miroku/Winchester Deluxe 1895 .405 with nice engraving and high grade wood. I bought this from Mod71 Alaska a few years ago and it has remained unfired and lonely in my safe since then.

My wife said no Christmas presents from her, since I bought a Cody Ballard for myself. But she did still give me some socks and underwear!

That rifle is too much for my projected needs, but is sure is a beauty. Glad for you!

Wow - that Cobra is the Bomb. Are you absolutely sure that you want to divest yourself of that true classic? I'm not sure if St. Peter will let you in (later) if you let it leave your home; seems like high sacrilege to me.

John,
Are you repeating yourself?
I won the Cobra at a Friends of the NRA dinner several years back

But something has to go as I do not shoot it or the 1895 .405, so they get the call.

Maybe the weather will be nice this weekend and I can get out with the double and see if it will hit the broadside of a barn.
