The score: .357 Mag levergun-1, golf ball-0

Post by jnyork »

Had some fun at our club's lever action silhouette match last Friday. We were shooting the .22 and pistol caliber course, with the chickens out at 40 meters. In this shoot, after you shoot your regulation 10 targets you get one bonus shot at a much smaller target to win a dollar. At the chicken line we set up a golf ball. I hit this golf ball, offhand of course, with my Rossi .357 Magnum rifle. Made a perfect hit, centered a little low. Ball soared high in the air, glanced off some rocks on the adjacent hillside and came to rest almost to the ram line, a distance of about 50 yards. Got high marks from the other shooters for my well-played chip shot. Certainly more luck than skill, but I didn't tell THEM that.

That's a good shot, luck, or not. 8) Always make 'em think you could do that all day.

Yeah, luck....

Because you've never shouldered a levergun aiming at a small target before...

Right?

So THAT's what those annoying things are for. Is that what they call a "birdie?"

I went walking with an associate in a park to discuss some business, and I kept tripping over them and kicking them out of the way into these weird sand pits.

Golf is a dumb game. Hit a ball, walk a mile, hit again, walk again.

Nice shooting
We put golf balls out 200 yards or so and shoot them with varmint rifles
They usually make a loud CRACK and head off to parts unknown

Here's another thing you can do with them (don't know exactly how it launches the ball without the lower though... )....http://www.sportsmansguide.com/product/ ... r?a=502765

Now if you're REALLY good, you get one guy to 'launch' the ball, and the other shoots it in mid-air with a shotgun, then when it hits the ground the third guy hits it with a rifle... :D
