Thought experiment: if you were a Name In Hollyweird...

Post by Old Ironsights »

The thread on "Risen" got me thinking... What series of books would you turn into a mega-blockbuster series?

Think about what the hoi-poloi "like" and what books provide that, in enough detail and longevity to make a series, but ALSO touch on themes you think are "important". (religion, duty, honor, etc, etc...)

I wonder who will duplicate my pick... (Archived in "messages with today's date stamp...)

Not a series, but would take a series of Movies to make.

A good pick with a fair amount of S&V, but would probably end up like Atlas Shrugged (sadly). The exposition necessary would kill it.

Tennyson's "Idylls of the King." 1859 the many short stories (poems) would lend themselves easily to a series.
Can't go wrong with classic literature, for my money there is none better. :D

I think I'd try the "Casca: The Eternal Mercenary" series by Barry Sadler, originally, and then several ghost writers.

:)
Government office attracts the power-mad, yet it's people who just want to be left alone to live life on their own terms who are considered dangerous.

History teaches that it's a small window in which people can fight back before it is too dangerous to fight back.

I thoroughly enjoyed the "Casca" series. Sadler's scenarios fit history and geography which greatly pleased me. Kinda like LaMour's work in that way.

Why am I not surprised that it is You that matched my pick?

The Casca series has everything a modern blockbuster needs:

Transcendent themes, violence, sex, great Locations, etc.

You could milk it for decades, even changing the actor as he ages out since Casca has to change appearance over time.
